It is when power is wedded to chronic fear that it becomes formidable.

high FC are thing of the past, the new hyundais are doing 14/ltr min. (based on real world driving)..santa fe is doing like 8 ltr/km...its 2.7 V6 so thats the norm i guess..

hyundai for life? wtf? mine loss 50k+ within 4 years and i sell straight away before it turns into ash. Crap depreciation, machiam buying Ebo and losing at that sum. Mostly wat i get back is juz paper value, body value is juz a mere 3k for a coupe.

Which also mean that you can get a 2nd hand on for low price if you can pay cash to seller.

I personally think Korean cars have improved alot since then.. But some just can't shake of the stigma..

"Our verdict

If not exactly a step back, the Peugeot 308 seems like a hop sideways when the competition is striding forward. Rivals are no longer German and Japanese, they’re Korean. And doing rather better."

Talking about Hydundai cars, my friend was "forced" to sign an agreement to service his Hydundai car in Komoco, when he bought his Hydundai Avante from Komoco. Meaning that my friend has to send his Hydundai car for servicing during the warranty period, otherwise the warranty will be void. The fact is Komoco charges its servicng package about 1.5 times more expensive than otutside workshop, even outside big, reputabe ones like ComfortDelgro workshop.

But I was told by the GM (Servicing) of Borneo Motors that it is legally not enforceable since it violates the purchaser/owner rights. He didn't elaborate but said something that his company has thought of that but didn't start it.

Anyone one care to elaborate this.

I know Kah motors (for Honda cars), Borneo Motors (for Toyota cars) don't enforce this.

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

chim, how to force? hold his hand make him sign? took a pen pointed at his neck?

but warranty is always this strict one ma? anyway i dun appreciate the type of engine oil that delgro nor komoco's use, i find that if you take some effort to search around the web u can find better deals with good service. But that only applies to general servicing.

Not only Komoco, every car distributor does that. But it's the first time I heard there is an agreement.

Now there are specialised workshop for every brand ie, there is nothing that the authorised agent can do which they can't. Some of them are even more competent than authorised agent when it comes to modifications and tuning.

Tell your friend, Avante no sweat, any garage also can maintain it properly.

To be fair, if outside workshop anyhow do your car den got problem you go back agent claim not fair for them also. if you wanna save a bit of money to service outside you have to take the risk of bearing the repair charges if anything fails. if you willing to pay a little more to go back agent den at least if anything spoil you can get them replace within the warranty period. Actually if you bring your own stuff for the servicing you only pay a little bit more. I always buy my own oil and filters so not much diff from outside workshop. But I know C&C dun allow you to use ur own oil and parts cos they wanna earn(Shel Helix ultra they sell hundred plus, outside sell $65!!), so KMC still quite steady. BM I tried service outside and go back for warranty they still repair but with black face. Tho ComfortDelgro is a big company, but their workmanship is crap. Search around for better workshop, there are plenty.

"Forced" as in before he collected his new car, he was asked to sign a stack of documents, one of them is this. It stated something like, there must be regular servicng records by Komoco otherwise the warranty might be void. My friend was too eager to collect his new ride so he signed, although he was not happy.

sold off matrix Feb this year..... 10 yrs loan.... sold off upon 3 1/2 year... topped up 11K Oh well....

Matrix is a tank on the road neither here nor there + having a F C of a RX8 -_-... but without the power.....

Newer Hyundais having newer technology will see better FC.. .Advante Verna, i30 etc.....

if given a chance i wouldnt mind trying on the newer models of hyundai.... BUT PLEASE nvr matrix and Getz...( personal opinion cos of the FC)

like that cannot be judge as "forced" liao. like T1 say, is juz a form to protect it's company interest.

I assume your friend is first time buying car since he is to eager to collect it, next time ask him to tell the salesman "I don't sign, how many months can your carpark store my vehicle here :cheeky: "

The reply would probably be " as long as you keep up with the instalments" :)
