LTA Vehicle Inspection

1) If i go for inspection on the 1st November 2009, i am afraid that my next inspection will be on the 1st November 2010. This would be very inconvenient for me. So if i went on 1st November 2009, my next inspection date would still be on the 28th December 2010?

Yes. The date u need to clear inspection by depends on yr roadtax expiry date rather than the previous date u cleared yr previous inspection.

EDIT: Oh just so you guys know, i called up NTUC just now. They say can extend for 1-6 months insurance to match the bike road tax but cannot more. Then they say next year insurance premium will be up by 30% for those who never claim. Those who claim will get higher like 50+%. Thats what the operatior said. I called AXA regarding this matter and they also confirmed this.

siao liao lo...

the 10% increase in NCD is not even enough to offset the rise in premiums for me this year already. cant imagine what happens next year...

may i ask if racing footrest and tong-ed belly can pass ?

for racing footrest, u stand a chance to pass if yr rear brakelights work as per normal

for tong belly, shouldnt be a problem. tong silencer will be more obvious. :p

hmm, wats the price of the inspection between motorshop n LTA?

go yrself = ard $17

go via motorshop = $50 or more? got to factor in the towing charges, etc.

:goodluck:

you can renew road tax @ the centre after inspection provided you have the insurance coverage.

brake light they will check. just DIY change your brake light bulb shouldnt cost more than $1 - $2 per bulb.

officially cannot... u need a valid road tax even if u dont ride... unless laidup bike... so need to settle everything before u fly..

but I'm sure u can take a risk & if anything happen, then appeal basis u're away..

Parking or what still can appeal appeal, see MP bla bla... Never play with road tax/insurance coverage!

Onus is on the owner to renew road tax BEFORE the expiry date. Renewing after expiry will attract late fees. In addition...

http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/maintain_vehicle/road_tax/timely_renewal_of.html

Besides the late fee, the owner of a vehicle is also liable to be prosecuted for the offence of keeping or using the vehicle without a valid road tax under Section 15 of the Road Traffic Act. The offence carries a maximum fine of $2,000 upon conviction in court.

Some more nowadays, you can renew road tax online, as long as you have sufficient insurance coverage.

Insurance can renew up to three months before expiry. Going overseas 31 Aug till insurance expiry 25 Sep is less than a month. There's no strong basis for your appeal.

Worth the risk, you think?

Think don^ replied you d earlier... Based on own experience, I think that's the case also.

Yes. The date u need to clear inspection by depends on yr roadtax expiry date rather than the previous date u cleared yr previous inspection.

I wanna go for inspection today but my mirrors on my bike both spoiled or bent. Any idea if they'll pass me?

is yr bike road worthy?

u may be able to get away for the inspection since technically u have mirrors mounted on yr bike, but are u able to get away from mad drivers who tailgate or are travelling fast behind you as u change into their lanes everytime?

:goodluck:

why dont u fix the side of headlamp that is spoiled?

my personal opinion is that u stand a 50% chance.

:cheeky:

yr choice whether to do up yr bike properly & go & clear the inspection with peace of mind or run the risk of failing it and having to go for re-inspection.

with due respect, this is easier said than done.. a number of my friends went to an inspection center - all with clear pieces of mind. their bike is mainly stock, with modifications being minimalists. they all fail their test ridiculously. in the end, a few of them went to another inspection center... easier to pass.

agree that luck plays a part in clearing inspection also.

there was this period of time when the inspectors are totally into faulting 2strokes for white smoke. they wan zero white smoke. i tink now they have somewhat adjusted their tolerance levels abit.

same for front no. plates.

there will be inspectors who are not aware that sticker number plates are allowed and fault u for it. and then there will be unwritten standards that some of them try to impose, like if the no. plate is mounted on metal piece, it is required to be affixed by screws, etc.

besides the general standards of the inspection centre, different inspectors have different standards of vehicles also. at the end the day, u cant deny that chances of bringing along a functional vehicle and getting it cleared for inspection are higher than if u bring a vehicle along that the owners themselves know is not roadworthy.

:)
