The present civilian GPS technology is very precise., up to 10m accuracy. To make the position meaningful, it would need a map, that's where most of the problems start. Maps are created by humans, so inherently human makes mistake. Then maps have to be constantly updated to keep current with the constant road changes. Despite all these, Singaporeans and Malaysians are fortunate to have MalaysiaFreeMaps, and Malsingmaps which provide quality street level maps, with frequent updates for free.

From my experience, at least 90% of the time it will bring you to your destination. 10% of the time, it will bring you close to the destination but you are not there because the map doesn't have the service road that leads you into the building.

 

Another example is to locate an Address, eg 123 Serangoon Road, no GPS will be able to direct you exactly to that location because the maps have not be incorporated with the House Number component, and Serangoon Road being a very long road, you could be 6km from the destination, yet the GPS keep beeping that you have arrived.

It only came with a world topo map. But there are plenty of free maps for garmin.
