SAF goretex boots are good waterproof stuff, but are not designed for motorcycle riders.

From my experience they do not last long in terms of abrasion. Furthermore it does not offer ankle protection, a common injury when a bike happens to rest on your foot, at high speed.

I had a low side at 50km/h, leather worn all the way through. But still better than nothing. Very comfortable touring boots.

meh, i think i fall into the got something wrong with head category. I actually kinda enjoyed NS, and still love my SAF boots, the older version, full-leather, thinner toe-box. Only problem is without the shiftpad, i'm shredding the leather fast. Any suggestions on material to glue-on to beef up that area?

cut a piece of leather and glue over it will do the trick

what i do with the padded mesh jacket when i am lazy to fold and put into the box is that i just hold it in my hands like you would a coat... that way i won't wear it walking about.

also with non-riding boots, you'd have to get used to gear shifting and foot placements as it is a little chunky... heheh... when i first started using the safety boots (look like the new army boots) i was shifting and pressing the brakes without knowing it... but that lasted only a day then i very quickly got used to it...

Grounded... :/

Then again, my boots are like 7yrs old. After i ORDed, didn't condition em. They were a lil moldy when i dug them out to start taking my class2B in July.

waaa... 7 years old boots and u expect them to withstand the gear shifting meh? None of my foot wear ever last half as long wor.. except for the odd pair of sunday soccer boots.

the ankle protection for SAF boots is close to non existent. They do not protect against impacts or stress fractures. They are only good for abrasion resistance. But a low side at 50 worn all the way thru? thats downright useless! Even my cheap track shoes back last time survived. how did the "worn all the way through" happen? can elaborate?

the trick to these high cut boots is to spend time undoing the laces properly. Do that well and the boots come off easily. back in army days my mates and I were also forcing our boots off our feet, with all our strength at times.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

u can always stuff them inside your helmet. even if it can't, surely half of it can fit in? then just leave the other half hanging outside inside the helmet bag.

for me, it's kinda irritating. taking out jacket and helmet in the carpark and then fold jacket nicely to stuff inside helmet and then inside helmet bag. that's the reason why i need a very light full-face; easier to carry around in shopping centres.

Sorry guys, Can check with you all. How is the Kormine Heavy Mesh Pants?

Feel like getting for my small little trip oversea.

I'm currently using this pair of pants that you mentioned on my tours up North! I should say that it is very comfortable and I really like it! :thumb:

It's just that it has one downside... when I sit on my bike, the pants ride up a little... therefore, you've got to make sure that your riding boots cover your ankles!

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

Yup, it is! :thumb: in fact, I had my touring pants attached with my armoured jacket too!

And I still find it easy to remove for toilet breaks!

dey... you never thought of folding your jeans up a little before putting the rain pants on? You don't need a long rainpants, just folding the bottom of the jeans 2 or 3 folds is enough.

Well, I always have to roll up my jeans when I have my rain pants on... otherwise, my jeans will sure be wet!

hi

need to necessarily be those hard type but its a plus if it is, better still if it can be removed.. otherwise padded ones will be fine with me too.. any recommendations? or a particular model i should look out for? my budget is quite low so i suppose komine and RS taichi are the 2 brands i shortlist.
