Do you gear up when riding?

For mesh jackets, you wouldn't want one where the elbow guards is removed from the inside. You want to remove it from the outside. Many first time buyers will overlook this and regret it every week when they wash the jackets.

for me sensitive skin... generally wash every week. cause my milege per week also quite high... u can tahan... i gotta kowtow to u sia... if me i buay tahan already

hey ask u all ar, is the mechanism of flip up helmets strong? i think its time to upgrade my helmet, thinking of nolan ones. currently using kbc full face, thinking of a flip up helmet. going atms and paying for petrol seems to be easier in that way.

 

any advise?

 

how about helmets like hornet etc . . any idea whats the pros and con of using a offroad helmet? the protruding chin guard, peak etc. .

I've own a few brands of mesh jackets and so far, Komine is the only one that I own comes with the benefit of removing the elbow guards.

 

And... yes, as for the other jackets, it's really quite troublesome to remove the guards from the inside especially around the elbow area.

am glad i don't feel so "out of place" on the roads anymore. coz been reading the forum even b4 i got my p-plate 2b last year and within a week of passing i got my flip up and jacket from a shop along Jln Besar and it does feel wierd when i ride without them...

 

i get wierd looks at the traffic lights on a ta200 with flip up, mesh & gloves but i just tell myself, no matter what happens... i knock you - I get hurt, you touch me a bit also... I get hurt. so screw what you think, i am taking care of myself first so i can still enjoy the ride tomorrow

 

even going to the nearby market (here i a little slack...) at least jeans / long pants, covered shoes, gloves and my school open face Zeus ...

 

but reading thru here i think the ATGATT is really a good thing...

 

not sure if any one recall the article about a month back in the ST where they were talking about road accidents and helmet usage?

 

I sent in an email to the ST forum and the TP regarding what's the big "f" (of coz i didn't put it that way) with the PSB sticker... where there's so many other international standards which i prolly believe would surpass PSB's and if there could be some form of conciliation of standards so that local riders could have a much wider choice without fear of any repercussions even if i used an internationally recognized brand but coz it's got no PSB sticker kinda thing...

 

also asked them a question... what's the use of PSB approved helmet if i used that helmet with a singlet, shorts and flip flops...

 

i wonder why they've not replied yet... LOL

 

if there would be a ATGATT gathering, i'd love to join in and show them that bikers are responsible road users too!!! (maybe more so than some drivers out there )

Of course, all these items are bought over time... not at one go! :giddy:

 

But, I personally feel that these are essential items for yourself as a rider and when your loved ones see you gearing up like that... it should ease their minds more... This is just me being responsible towards my loved ones!

You can always go for mesh jacket and pants... no need leather... I think Singapore is too humid for that... As for boots, you can always use your free-of-charge-sturdy SAF goretex boots. My bf uses them most of the time now!

u... finish NS right? u see huh, i've spent $200 on riding shoes before. But currently I'm using the SAF boots as per dreamer's post cause huh

 

1. The waterproofing solid. Its full leather, and its high cut. Water cannot seep in, even on NSH heavy rain.

 

2. It feels a lot more sturdy, unless u using riding shoes with ankle guards/high cut design.

 

3. Very grippy.

 

4. The most important? Its FOC. This one no riding shoes can ever compare.

 

The only downside? Its freaking SAF boots. Initially I was a bit sian every time I put on the boots. Reminded of army, reminded of reservice. I don't like to be reminded of these things. Most men want to put those behind them. Unless u are a regular/garang/got something wrong with ur head.

 

If u get used to it, it is pretty OK. Its much better in quality than most riding shoes on the market that costs $200 or less.

meh, i think i fall into the got something wrong with head category. I actually kinda enjoyed NS, and still love my SAF boots, the older version, full-leather, thinner toe-box. Only problem is without the shiftpad, i'm shredding the leather fast. Any suggestions on material to glue-on to beef up that area?

no no... u are the garang type. haha.. I'm also using the old full leather version i think. The leather at the shift pad also seems to be getting a little rough, but I've only been using them a couple months. Wouldn't full leather hold out the gear shifting? How long have u used them?

heh heh, i think i got brainwashed in obese BMT. Yea, the old full leather version the best i think. Lace up nice n tight and the ankle is darned rigid, lotsa support. Bought the old goretex with the mesh sides right before i ORDed, g*dd**med footrot boots, never used em again.

 

I have no idea, i also thought that full leather should last quite awhile. Then again, my boots are like 7yrs old. After i ORDed, didn't condition em. They were a lil moldy when i dug them out to start taking my class2B in July.

 

Maybe i got darned bad shifting footwork. Grind the leather up quite badly. Thinking of using the rubber soles of my old climbing shoe to place in the shifting area. Dunno if our SAF boots are of good quality leather? Or some el-cheapo synthetic. Either way, you're right on one thing. They're free!

 

Side-track, saw the Forma Fly Evo or something like that at LAB going at $150. Was tempted till i saw the Puma Flat 2s......but $$.....
