Hey ATGATT Advocates!

Just got back from overseas and I bought a few pairs of armoured jeans pretty cheaply.

It's got hip paddings, knee and shin armour which can be adjusted to suit your leg length, and look pretty good. Bought 2 for myself, and 1 for my girlfriend. Got another one for a buddy of mine too.

Sides also have zipper through which you adjust the armour height and position, and also allows ventilation.

Got some pics...

wah bro!! nice and decently price eh.. if buy in bulk can get cheaper? lol.. but u must test for it la. give your review.

anyway, anyone have this problem like me? i want a padded jacket to protect me in case of fall. also, i want a raincoat in case of rain. also, i want a jacket at night so i won't feel cold in the wind. and i feel like not wearing anything during the hot sunny day. so, what type of jacket is recommended eh? for me, i use the OGK raincoat cheaply bought at LAB which serves the first 3 points. but the last point ahh really testing my limits these days. tempted to just wearing singlet. haha...

I would recommend the opposite. A black jacket will actually reduce your road presence at night whereas a coloured one or better yet, one luminous colours/strips would make you more visible to other road users. I personally think that how 'nice and clean' my jacket would look like after use is pretty low on my list of priorities when looking for a jacket.

i dont really care what color it is, i dont rely on my jacket for presence, from back, my big box got reflective stickers, my helmet also got them too. from side, my helmet is not dark color n i pasted reflective stickers on the side too. i recently added some lights to my wheels also. so if the driver were to cut into me, then definately he's blind or never checked his blind spot.

Y is 1st 4 letters of helmet censored???

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Reflective stickers only work at night if other road users on headlight shines on them... My jacket/bike/helmet/boots got reflective stickers.. but only at night they work, when car headlight shines at them. Behind a car, it doesn't make a diff, driver only see my healight.. With so many other vehicles headlight, especially if close to one another, very hard to tell if its a bike or car and also very hard to judge the distance and speed...Hi viz / bright color let works in day and night.... Believe me, i own 3-4 black jacket with reflective stripe, 90% of the drivers just cut into my lane as if they never see me, i dont blame them 100% of the time. I drive before, clock 5000km monthly, 14-16hrs a day 7 days a week for 5yrs on the road so i know its hard to tell apart a bike from so many other healight on the road.

After i changed to Olympia GT transition Air in Neon Yellow, day or night the number of driver that cut into my lane dropped to 20-30%. It makes a diff! Now the jacket belongs to another rider, now i wear Motoport Air mesh Kevlar, color scheme i requested for something like my Olympia...

But in the end, a black jacket is better than no jacket.... :)

Interesting. Perhaps wearing a bangala construction vest over dark coloured jackets will help too.

yup.. most riders in US and europe do that.. Wear safety vest over their riding jacket... i bring along a safety vest sometimes, for pillion or stop roadside if bike got prob/flat tyre..

They even have lighted safety vest:

Even Scorpion has made a Hi Viz Neon helmet:

The Visi-Bag Biker Bag from ICU-UCMe also not bad.. The hi viz part can be folded, so when u riding fold it out for hi viz, when off the bike fold back to its all black...

Get a Mesh jacket with windproof liner. If it rains, put on a raincoat over the riding jacket.

OGK raincoats will not last half a second of tarmac surfing, not to mention the lack of any impact protection.

Ok, review.

In terms of fitting, very well because its asian sizing/cutting. Fits well, minimal shifting of armour, and belt not required if proper size is selected, though I still wear a belt to carry my Leatherman Skeletool on my hip.

Ventilation is good because its not kevlar, just regular denim, albeit slightly thicker. The sides of the jeans have zippers which you can leave open for ventilation and adjustment of the armour position.

As far as design is concerned, all look different. Ranges from the minimalistic (minimal hemming, just plain ol' jeans), to the Type 4 with fancy styling lines. But have worn them all, comfort level is pretty high on my priority and they score well. And the comments I got from non-biking lay persons is that they look fashionable, and they would never have guessed they were armoured jeans because the armour fit well so is quite inconspicuous. No tell-tale bulge or anything.

I wanted to get Draggin Jeans and was considering the Komine ones in Motoworld but DJ are too expensive (excludes shipping, guards sold separately, etc), and the Komine ones dont have my size (actually the guards sort of swim around on their own a bit).

In the end, I figured since these were cheap I'd get 2 pairs. Can wear the other when one of them is in the wash. Also, having some protection is better than none, and would love to have kevlar, but that would jack the price up to Draggin Jeans level so denim will have to do.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

I also wanted Draggin Jeans, but the price sets me back.. Draggin Jeans aust more ex, but they got more design ---> http://www.flexegate.com.au/cgi-bin/djstore/home.html?id=7QwgIv2h&mv_pc=127. Even got Chinos and cargo pants with Kevlar... For now i'll save up for a Motoport Kevlar mesh overpants first

Does anyone here have a neck brace? Such as the ones here:

http://www.leatt-brace.com/index.php

There's a Vespa rider in Singapore who uses one, and his article on his crash can be found in the current edition of Piaggio's magazine, Free Wheeling.

Been planning to get a Leat neck brace for some time, now saving up for it. Waited so long for the Leatt Adventure to come out, rumours abt it been going around since early 2008... The Leatt Adventure is out now, its more affordable.. >> http://www.leatt-brace.com/index.php?page_id=50&msg_id=151&id=3#151

went to motoworld at lavendar yesterday to grab a pair of glove and take a look at Komine air mesh.. Didnt managed to get a matching colour glove but the price of the Komine air mesh really shocked me.. I was quoted 240sgd, e salesperson told me e price had increased from the previous 170 to 240 due to the hike in yen to sgd exchange rate. gotta look for other mesh jacket already 240 is realli over budget

Wow! I'm really shocked to hear the huge price hike of the Komine Air Mesh jacket! Oh no!

Er... perhaps... hopefully the European brands don't have price increase!!!

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

komine is from korea ... won has never been strong.

if they use yen as a reason i am speechless although if they import from japan then it's reasonable.

do shop around, use yr dollars wisely.

i don't follow the exchange rates but I doubt the yen hiked 50% against SGD to warrant a price hike for the product from $170 to $240? Or did it?

Anyway, do check out Regina at Jalan Besar. For that kind of money, u might as look out for other products and compare.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.
