Check ur ignition 10 ohms red fuse first lah...its likely blown. No spare?..use the "Fan" 10 ohms fuse first.

If fuse is ok, try starting again.

If cannot start, try to jump start. Battery may be flat even if your headlights can be powered (will usually be dimmer than normal). Battery may not have enough juice to crank starter motor. Jump start with jumper cables connected to a car battery. If not, push start in 2nd gear.

Be wary of the source of information for your bike's maintenance. Some FAQs are compiled by people who lack the technical know how.

Hey-guys,

I rode for half an hour yesterday with my engine ignition switch pressed in, causing the ignition-cranking sound to be present whenever I changed to neutral or when I clutched in. I was scared **** by the sound but I didn't know what the problem was. The engine also felt hotter than usual while I was riding. I thought it was my engine problem but after going to the bike shop today to check it out, they enlightened me, and told me that it is common among Super 4 bikes to have the ignition switch slightly pressed in after using it, something like a defect.

The question is, will this 30 mins of riding with the switch pressed in spoil my engine in any way? The bike shop mech told me it can potentially cause problems to my starter motor or housing or something like that..

How come i do not have this issue? what spec are u riding? if the bike is old and lack of basic maintainence the switch area might need some lubrication and cleaning, unscrew the 2 screws at the switch housing and do some 'area cleaning'

Spec 3.. I asked the mech if can repair or change the switch so wont have the problem and he said it will cost $140 but not much use also, because sooner or later the problem will return..

OEM switch dun cost that much, the last sentence is pointless , the phrase 'sooner or later' , how soon or how late? bro just try my method see able to rectify the issue or not,if able to rectify, practice the habit to do area cleaning just like our army days HAHA

@krp

No need waste money to change the switch.

The ignition switch is just stuck. As @ldslds said, it just needs to be cleaned. After cleaning, remember to apply some grease or engine oil or chain lube (in order of preference) to keep the switch button lubricated. Regular cleaning and lubrication (1-2 times a year?) will keep it in good shape for a long time to come.

Be wary of the source of information for your bike's maintenance. Some FAQs are compiled by people who lack the technical know how.

use scott oiler to lubricate the switch. just jokin, but agree with them, $140 is super ex for a small issue which you can just DIY

If the light still blink or light up AFTER you start your bike, it is adviseable to visit a mechanic the soonest, most likely is Engine Oil (EO) problem.... you can contact @Ah Pek as well for this issue, he is most happy to assist you on this issue....

SideNote, which version you are riding ? if you free.. please look out for S4MG or any gathering by CB400 members please come join us......

Thanks for advising.. The light will be gone once gear 1 is engaged and appear when offing engine.. Anyway the day when i got my bike, i change EO so it shouldnt be that fault.

Its spec 3...

its normal.

as long as engine not running, the light is there. when engine running, light will be gone.

Thanks for advising... Correct, when switching off then light reappear.. I feel safe now that there is no problem with it.. phew...

Btw, there red light indicator is indicate low engine oil pressure or ?

Engine wise should be no but i think ignition coil might be affected by the long term pressing, as we all know when we press that button, it is to crank start the engine using the ignition coil,so long term pressing is not healthy to ur ignition coil
