Hi Guys/ Gals

After tis FaceLift & Service, do i need 2 do any tuning or checks for my bike. Its all running on stocks. Is there a speed cut limit, juz like cars? Well, i have gone fastest maybe 140km/h. Haha tats scary enough. Pls advice guys if i need a tune up. Can Unique Motors do it. Bike should b ready end of the week or so. Will go see on Fri. Also need 2 ask them 2 install a Black crash bar for me. Thanks

Did u ask them clean the carb for u? after cleaning, usually they will check ba. If your bike is stock, dont really need to tune.

If your top speed is 140, dont worry abt powercut. even if got powercut, it will be at 180. ^^

n yes, they can do almost everything u need for your s4..

i am hearing some 'tack tack tack' sound when i am moving off. sound coming from the front of the bike.. but its sort of a intermittent problem i am facing.. any idea what's wrong?

Check your chain tension for excessive slack and especially back wheel chain alignment marks for balance (the adjustment does run out by itself due to day to day hard riding and road bumps sometime). Tell tale sign is that the roller bearing of the chain is very shinning..meaning the chain is not "inline" with the back and front sporcket or rather more specific, the back wheel is slant liao.

Other than the above, front sporcket worn out liao but in most cases not..stick to the above explained.

when i clutch in and let the bike roll, i can feel soft "tack tack tack" on the lower left. kinda near my foot.

any idea??

If it's continous and consistent..it's likely the primary gear teeth worn out. Open up the front protective gear cover and see if the gear tooth curves backwards from its tip down. Also check if the toot of the back gear arch in badly at it's tooth base and somewhat getting pointed at their tip.

Can be chain slack problem too. Try adjusting the chain for the right tension. If you have someone to help do it, make sure you sit on the bike to have a more accurate tension adjusted.

Does anyone know what the valve clearance is for CB400 (Spec 1)? Actually I don't even know what I'm asking; my in-house "chief mechanic" was the one who wanted to know...

pek. just got my chain tighten. i will like to clarify myself. should be my left foot can FEEL "tack tack tack" kind of soft knocking. so is the gear or sprocket? different?

Engine Cold - Inlet valves : 0.12mm to 0.18mm

Exhaust valves : 0.17mm to 0.24mm (across various S4)

Normally, wider opening is better for long distance top end (smoother ride) while tighter gap is better for that go and rush ride style (pickup).

hi ah pek, when do we know that clutch pad need to be change?

Errr..clutch plates you meant? There are 6 pieces I think..aout $11.00 ea excluding workmanship. You know its time to change only when your bike start to creep and move forward when you clutch fully in especially when you have a fairly new clutch cable. Its not fault by hearing sound inside the clutch hosuing as think so by some ppl.

Sorry..don't quite get your question right? Gear and Sprocket are same thing leh. Front gear oso know as primary gear or front sprocket, the back gear is usually call back sprocket.

Tightening is not as easy as it seems really. The slack determine the kind of riding style too. Too tight, you get lot of drag and harsh engine braking..too loose you get more gradual pickup build up and lesser engine braking strain. Just remember that the recommended slack allowance in the manual is a point that it should be after you sit on the bike and with additional load like a pillion, it all makes a difference. Most importantly, the back wheel have to be very straight inline along with the chain and front sprocket. If your chain roller pin bearing housing (the cylindrical metal link between the chain figure 8 plates) is partially shinny while the other area is dirty with road use..this is tell tale sign that your back wheel alignment is out (can occurr anytime) even at times the markers on the back swingarm looks ok. You have to loosen the big axle nut, lock nut of the chain adjuster and kick the wheel in and readjust again.

Yes..the "tack" sound you described and from where it is, usually from the chain in works with a bad fron't sprocket and could be bad chain or slack too much. Bad back sprocket can oso give symptom like this. Do check the swingarm rubber protector too..if it tear and expose the swingwarm, your chain slack lashing can create that kind of sound too but really loud.

thanks ah pek. my guess is chain slack to be the very likely reason. cheers.

Ah pek from what you stat here i think my bike start to have this condition le.. But it's only when in the morning i start my bike then will have this condition. But after that it will not move off when i fully clutch in.. But is there anyother conditions to take note when the cluch plates going to wear off?
