Can't be power cut, though it must be some problem or other. Wouldn't be surprised if both bikes valve jam. But even then should eventually be able to rev much higher than that if you keep the throttle open long enough. Full throttle, right? In which gears? Try 2nd gear. None of the bikes I've seen have the problem you're describing.

i was refering to 1st Gear.

1st gear is the most sensitive to carburetion bottlenecks. For instance, if the jetting is too rich, the engine will bog down most obviously in 1st at high rpms. If jetting's to lean, it'll cut out in 1st at high rpms. Besides, 1st gear isn't a great gear to drag, in my experience. Try the bikes again with 2nd gear and let us know how it goes.

Oh! So that's why my 125 can't go past 6-7K rpm on 1st... Was starting to think something wrong... Hmmm... but 2nd gear upwards ok..

So to remedy this problem, how?

1) Change to Arrow pipe

2) Change the jettings

Huh? Issit? How?

Yes, they were Malay.

Could be the same bunch.

They see u, catch up, ride beside u for awhile, while staring at you.

I really do think they are Milo drinkers, cause after seeing my RS pipe,

he prob didnt like it and sped up and gave me a trail of sparks...............

Wonder if they will do the same thing if a RSV goes by them.............

All hail! My bike is back! Anyone wants to go riding/meet up? Call Edwin last night, but i was too late, all go home already...

Huh? Every night do the same thing? People nowadays got nothing better to do ah? And i doubt they'll do the same to RSV.. By the time they do it, RSV disappear into the horizon already anyway...

They don't like the rs pipe, maybe they'll prefer my stacked exhaust? Give me a bike to blow at! hahahaha

Biker Gang?

My idea of biker gangs are 100kg guys on LOUD fatboy harleys, leather vest & pants, cowboy boots and black bucket helmet, NOT skinny 55kg dude in singlet, slippers and shorts.

Anywayz, maybe nextime there is a decent no. of Aprilias turning up for a meet, take a tour down BKE and treat them to some miLo :bouncefire: :bouncefire:

Heheh, you're Mr 250 Jude, why you worry? Changing to Arrow is not necessarily a remedy, although if you change to Arrow but don't change jetting, your bike will most likely end up running leaner than before. If your problems were caused by excessive richness, then your problem could be cured this way. But if your bike's already running too lean, then you'll have to enrich your jetting.

Another way to go leaner without re-jetting, as pointed out by Edwin and Chin Guan at a 2am kopi session, is to increase air intake by installing a high-flow panel filter (K&N, PiperX, etc).

I feel for you Hanif, I remember riding while having an allergic reaction and having to stuff tissue into my FF helmet :faint: but lucky no accident. I'm glad you weren't riding fast when you sneezed big.

Axxis, why dun you shed more light on the differences between SP and Rs125 since you got both bike? in terms of running cost, handling, power, etc....

I'm sure that will help Jie Liang in determining if he shld get the RS125.

Jie Liang, for me. I bought RS125 becoz

1) thats the bike i like and thats what cause me to go take bike licence.

2) Superb handling performance

3) I just simply dun like the look of SP and Kawa Kips.

4) RS125 is an italian!!!:cheer: :cheer:

(not sure true or not) Was told that Aprilia parts are more expensive than SP parts. And also might get into the problem of "no stocks avaialble" even if you are willing to pay the price.

All bikes will encoutner wear and tear problems. Its really depend on the rider style and how well he treats his bike (such as got do regular servicing?) So, no one can garantee you that the bike you buy can last you 2-3 years.

I am not a mechanic, I might be wrong. So, please check with others!

gonggong> my other bike is a CBR150 not a NSR150.

I would only ride a 4-stoke bike as a daily rider, never a 2-stroke. I used to ride CBR600, SV650, Z1000 etc daily but after buying the sonic I discovered that riding a small single on a daily basis is actually far better. Better economy, better in traffic, more nimble, not as hot, cheaper maintenance, cheaper tyres, cheaper if you crash it, cheaper insurance, low octance fuel, less oil quality dependant etc.

I loved the sonic but tried out the CBR one day for a friend and decided it's similar to the sonic but better with a longer range (larger tank 10lt vs 4lt) and the fuel economy is still pretty good. So I made the switch and I'm now selling my sonic to a friend.

I would certainly advise anyone who wants a nice handling small (2b)sports bike to get an Aprilia but I would never advise to ride it daily. If you ever take it to the track you will find it a joy to ride. It instills so much confidence for cornering that my first session out on it I got my knee down on the right hand corners. I would have managed it on the left handers also if not for the stupid side stand which protrudes due to the clearance for the original milo-can pipe.

The maintenance costs for an aprilia are certainly higher than for an SP150 or Kips but the bike has a solid feel when riding it that you wont get from any other similar sized bike. In addition if you treat it properly it should last well, especially if you're not using it for commuting.

Getting a cheap 2nd bike as a daily rider will actually save you money (maintenance) in the long run. Waves, Sonics etc can be bought for under 2k and the CBR150's under 3k. Parts are cheap and fuel consumption is good and no need for 2t or even high octane rating fuel. If you ride the Aprilia every day for a year the yearly maintenance will probably be similar to the cost of the small bike.

Sure I killed mine but that was only because I gave it 50 mins of non-stop abuse between 9,000-13,000 rpm. A 10 break after 20 mins to check the bike would have probably saved it's life. =( Anyway, it's a good lesson. When i get it fixed I'm converting it to premix so I have less to worry about for my track sessions. I'm also going to install a full pre-y2k engine in it as it seems to be easier to get 2nd hand parts. I'll then rebuild the existing engine slowly over time when I can get a good 2nd hand block and then I have a spare ready for the next time I kill it.

=p

I don't think other ppl need to fear doing what I did though. It's only because I'm used to the power of a 1000cc bike so getting used to a 125cc takes time.

I know there are many guys in here who own RS125's and ride them daily and would probably argue with me but from what I've heard their bikes all require freqent maintenance, valve cleaning, oil changes etc. If you are willing to do much of this work yourself your maintenance costs will certainly be greatly reduced.

So, my advice is to find yourself a nice small 4 stroke daily rider first. I'm sure with patience you can get one for 1.5k or less. Then buy yours Aprilia RS125. Don't do it the other way around because once you buy the aprilia and start riding it daily your budget for a 2nd bike will be gone. If you buy the reliable cheap commuter first you can then save for your RS coz riding the small bike will actually save you money.

Ok condtion, y2k RS125's are around the 2k mark now which is ridiculously cheap considering what you get for the money. You will probably need to set aside another $500-1000 though to get it in good shape. You can get older ones for around 1k!
