Trip Summary Report

Malacca Ringo Night

Reached Baba House quite late. Managed to catch J and J for dinner and some singing from 'Uncle' Ringo.

Hatyai LoyKrathong

9 hours of ride to Hatyai.

Diamond Plaza Hotel not bad. With secured parking and reasonably good authentic massage.

Managed to squeeze in a couple of sessions at Post Laser Disc Pub. 250thb for 3 bot of Carlsberg.

LoyKrathong was a small affair at a 'pond' next to Diana Shopping Centre. Didn't go to the bigger one at the University park.

Also rode around town (and Songkhla) and took a cable car ride at the hill top.

Phuket

Took us another 7 hours to reach Phuket. Some re-construction in the hill route between Phatthalung and Trang.

Amata Hotel was easy to find and was allowed to park right in front of the lobby (Hotel's own carpark with security guard).

Surrounded by countless massage parlor that offers sub-standard massage. The good and authentic ones are at the basement of JungCeylon Shopping Centre (300thb for 1 hour Thai massage). Shopping was expensive with prices similar to SG.

2nd day rode around island for sightseeing. Nice roads and beaches with beautiful views from the hills. Visited Karon View point, Promthep Cape, Big Buddha and Wat Chalong. Had a very nice (and cheap) lunch at a place called Chakangraw (got facebook) in Phuket Town.

3rd day, Kevin Ng and Feroze left for way home while I explore the area around. But really, there was nothing here other than many angmohs and skimpily clad women. Not a place for family and boring for Holy people like me. Not returning in future. I prefer Ao Nang. Anyone?

Hatyai (return)

4th day, decided to cut Phuket by 1 day (those massage girls kept asking me to play sports... must run away).

Avoiding the bad roads at Trang, returned to Hatyai by cutting across from PhangNga to Wiang Sa and down HW 41. Rained the whole way. 7 hours but can be faster.

Stayed at Pink Lady Hotel (780thb). Do the usual walk around and tried to watch the Hunger Games in English but less than 4 person (company policy) so they won't even screen it. Went back to Post Laser Disc and enjoyed the night with the waitresses.

Betong

Took the exit at Gurun and lost my way in the forests (didn't do mapping, my bad)... reached Modern Thai Hotel in 4 hours. Expected only a 2 hours ride.

Quietness in Betong broken because of a crazy man welding a knife locked himself in a 2nd floor shophouse. Police, Army, Fire Brigade failed in a few attempts (over a 3 hours) with some officers got cuts on arms and head. Finally managed to secure him when they tried a simultaneous Op from the door and opposite window. The medics quickly tranquilized that big sized guy, who must have weigh near 100kg. I was watching the whole process while having dinner next door. haha. Kaypo.

Met someone in Hotel and she brought me to Oxygen Disco/Pub at Garden View Hotel (after the tunnel) at 11pm. Brought our own liquor (from a nearby shop), JW Red Label at 1000thb for 2 bottles! Comes with seals and everything. Must be duty free or what?

Was the only 2 person there at 11pm when the band was playing and they were really good (much much better than Post laser). The rest of the crowd came in after 11.30pm.

Stayed up till 4am in the morning. It was fun drinking, joking, dancing and high-fiving with the band members, calling each other 'Brother' here and there. And everyone from other tables (Malaysians, Arabs, Thais...) also came over, shake hands and bottoms up. Wah, happening and high!

The damaged? 2500thb (S$100) including flowers for the band members. The Band also chipped in their share of the drinks too.

Btw, my 1st time rode a kupkia. So funny riding a toy bike, like some HOM on that Planet thingy.

Sunday be back to SG! Yeah.

Next is to troubleshoot hazard light, only 1 side blinking. maybe something loose again :faint:

heee... took the lazy man's method and went to Ah Choong the expert :p

guess what? it took him less than 5 minutes to find the problem... one of the wires came off inside.

that's the diff between amateurs and professional troubleshooting :clapping:

Hi Bros, just to ask, for the the majority of silverwings in Sg, are they 400 or 600?

Also does the floor board more for placing feet forward cruiser style or with feet planted horizontal to the ground?

most of the SW here are 400...

. boon siew (agent) brings in only the 400 FJS/SWT Euro models since a long time back

. parallel imported ones JDM/GT have mostly 400 and some 600

ever consider putting the IU inside the right glove compartment?

ERP gantries nor ERP-sensor typed car park can detect? most of our kakis have it there and haven't had any issue :)

annual inspection? IU is not a requirement to pass, no inspectors has asked me where's my IU so far :)

for FJS/JDM, there'll still be space to put some things with the IU inside; i put a pack of wet tissues on top of my older model big IU (transparent flip cover removed). for SWT/GT, the new IU fits nicely with a little push in, not much space left though.

one of our kakis ever tried putting IU inside left glove compartment so that he can lock the IU with cash card inside "permanently", removing card only for topping up.

+ plus is convenience, no need to worry about forgetting to keep cash card and loosing it, no issues with road ERP gantries.

- minus is need to keep much closer to the right side when clearing ERP-sensor typed car park cos IU sensor is aimed at the right side zone while the IU is located further in the left glove compartment.

basically, if the car parks you go are all FOC go-thru-gap types, then lockable left glove compartment is ideal. else, the right compartment is the recommended one :p
