DCT.looking at the cross picture.seem quite hard to change the dual clutch plates for a layman.not simple to repair if the solenoids or electronic starts to give problems.but haven see any problems from those hard core U.S riders at forum yet.

I thought of heading there for breakfast with my partner before going to malacca but confirm super crowded. Eat at local. :)

Update: AC Motor has shifted downstairs

 

in case you are planning to go ACM for servicing, do note that ACM has shifted to level 1, in the same building.

after entering the main entrance, go straight and lookout for unit #01-22 on the left... look slightly upwards and you should see a lighted signboard showing "AC Motor" (see attached pic).

Hi all bros,

 

I'm currently riding a SYM scooter, and considering of upgrading for a new Silverwing SW-T400, and have heard of many good reviews on this bike. Hopefully buying this gem over next 2 weeks.. Still, I hope to learn more about this bike from you guys:

 

1) can recommend a reliable bikeshop for servicing? cost?

2) what maintences to expect? / est. cost?

3) what are the common problems of this bike?

4) are the spare parts easily available?

5) where to buy SW's accessories?

6) any Topbox to recommend? (SHAD SH48, any review?)

7) what to look out for, during purchase & collection of bike?

8) anyone tried installing the IU unit inside one of the front compartment? (or installing bracket, what to lookout for?)

9) is there a Silverwing community or Facebook which i can join?

 

Hope learn some advises from all seniors here, and thank you everyone!

Definitely AC motors located at First East Centre. Fast service, reasonable price. He is so used to stripping and fixing back scooters, he can do the toughest jobs in the shortest time. I really like his quick service.

 

2) what maintences to expect? / est. cost?

So far, for my FJS400, i only do the usual engine oil, transmission oil, spark plug changes. Then there is tyres and belt as well. It is really affordable as well.

 

3) what are the common problems of this bike?

I think getting used to the brakes and the long wheel base. The bike is slippery on wet roads. You will get used to it over time and you will have to figure out how to control this amazing scooter.

 

4) are the spare parts easily available?

Yes, definitely.

 

5) where to buy SW's accessories?

Accessories, you can usually buy online. But there is nothing much extra in my opinion. Its not like a chopper where you can add and change the look constantly.

 

6) any Topbox to recommend? (SHAD SH48, any review?)

I would definitely recommend GIVI boxes, but SHAD48 is cheap and looks good too.

 

7) what to look out for, during purchase & collection of bike?

If you buying 2nd hand, there is a thread where Scoobydoo prepared with a checklist of what to look out for.

 

8) anyone tried installing the IU unit inside one of the front compartment? (or installing bracket, what to lookout for?)

My IU is in the right hand side glove compartment. Fits perfect and mine is the old IU. No scanning problems whatsoever.

 

9) is there a Silverwing community or Facebook which i can join?

This is not too sure. I only come here all the time to mingle. I know that the HOM (Horny Old Men) meet up at Rail Mall every Thursday night from 7pm onwards. Sometimes they are at Coffee bean, sometimes Subway. All very friendly and nice. Some will come earlier like maybe 6pm for dinner as well.
