With the name Meng Tong, then of course i know which shop lah!

FJRider, when take possession of bike, maybe can take photo of IU unit positon.

Also i will go down to HL and take a look at the bike. Don't know whether they also bring in the rear pillion back seat rest or not. Good for the wife.

FJRider, by the way, what colour did you order?

I got the silver. Yamaha assy are very expensive. Better to go for aftermarket assy like the UTOPIA backrest from the US. Link below,

Guys, still haven't taken delivery of my T Max. I have some questions for the gurus here:

1. What is the top speed of the Max?

2. Fuel tank capacity?

3. Where do most of you guys fixs the IU unit?

4. On a full tank, cruising at say 120km on NSH, where can I reach comfortably before I need to refuel?

Any input appreciated.

Sorry er for being so lor soh .... a couple more questions for the gurus:

1. Anyway the 2 glove compartment be modified to have a lock?

2. Is there any indicator light on the Max to tell you that belting needs to change ( The Max uses belting and not drive shaft right ?) If there is not indicator light-up then what are the tell tale signs to look out for ?

IMHO, i dont think the Tmax is as suitable to do long-distance touring, especially on the NSH, even more so when U have come from a FJR.

the riding posture of legs in-front would cause a strain on your lower back ( as your legs wont help support the weight, unlike the FJR).

thus, with all the petrol kiosks on the NSH, I dont see a big prob if U adopt the 5-stop strategy, up till Hatyai. it should be safe enough to reach Ayer Keroh, but i wont try, perhaps Pagoh is safer.

on U can rely on Maths:

based on 18KM/Litre, 14L X 18Km = 252KM. But @ 120Kph, that would take U at least 2 hours = Backaches all over.... hahaha....

Summary: Dont have to worry too much abt it. :thumb:

i mounted my IU on the handle bar,got time come out i showu, nothing to brag abt but practical.no probs with iu.

Actually cruising at 180km/hr is not straining at all..i 180km-190km/hr to malacca 2 up on my previous max.of course FC will be higher.120km/hr shld bring u further on a tank.

Lock on the Tmax,i have tried to mod it b4 on my blackmax. Not Advisable..dunno for wad reason the lock dont work well.Bigcow has seen it b4.but ultimately i removed it..also the compartment(s) (current tmax has 2 instead of 1 frm previous models) are made of not very sturdy plastic n i believe it can be easily opened too even if u mod a lock. Also a card partition will be included in the comparment (For current model 4B5) u can put it on either side but there is only 1.useful thing.

Yes,then is an indicator on the instrument panel itseld i believe its under the mileage.

Hope these info are in a way useful to u..just post if u have more qns..i`ll try my best to ans..

FJRider, i went to one motor tiem today and they quoted just above 17K for my asking price. They say also they did not know of ABS model too.

Aiya forgot to ask whether the price is inclusive of GST. But insurance is not added in.

Will call them again next few days to check.

What is your final buying price?

I also went to HL and they quoted me $17650 also no insurance. The spare part department also quoted me the passenger backrest with rear box mounting (one piece) just above $300 plus and need to place order wait for 1 month and 1st pay 50% deposit.

When get bike can i meet you up and take a look.....ok?

there is still no such technology yet to tell u when the belt gonna snap. the belt indicator will light up just to tell u that its time to check on your belt. but normally the belt can last another 10 000km or so.

i've toured to Phuket or Hat Yai once on my Burgman 400 and 6 times on my Burgman 650. after destroying this 2 bikes, i'm now riding a '04 FJR.

wat i feel is that when i was riding my scooters all the way to Phuket or Hat Yai, when i reach there, i'm still very fresh & energetic. but since i've changed to my current FJR, haven't reach the 200km mark, i'm damn shack le. good thing abt scooters is the back rest support & the ample leg room to move your legs abt. unlike conventional bikes when u can only step on your rider foot pegs.
