hi guys, Just got myself a burger 400 (old model) But very low mileage. Its a little hard to start at times. need 7 to 8 cranks before can start. Is that normal? Or do I need to do something about it. Need your expert opinion. Thanks.

I also got this problem but my bike was an itallian made. Once if u don't start daily say 4 to 7days gab then die...80% cannot start.

Mechanic tried all that he knew also cannot....but if start everyday no problem.

Was told all carburattor models are like that wor.....then my batt less than 1yr need to change cos....seldom get it going on 1st crank.

tks for your offer. my prob was a melted socket at the end of the switch comb. The bike shop replaced it with a burg400 k4 switch comb n using bk the existing immobilizer. was told that one of the wires connecting it was rusty n burnt. total damage incl towing was $420/-:sian:

it was solved leh.... its the hard run in that made the bike break down.

 The temptation to change bike must have been great...but you'll have a hard time matching John's record...

You need a small hand if you wanna DIY without removing the plastic bodywork... I tried twice and it was quite hard

i specially bought the correct tools just to change my plugs when i was still riding my 400. it'll be handy when u are all alone locally or on North South and the plug spoils.

Bro, can clarify what is the problem?

Oil change orange light or the red FI indicator light? If there is the red FI light, means one of the electronic sensors is not functioning properly.

anyway how many km can burgman k3 hit before reserve?

400cc?

can hit abt 25 to 28km/l

for your 13liters tank, should hit abt 300 to 350km per tank. but must see the condition of your bike also.

I just did a trip to KL, AWANA and back on a Burgman AN400 K1 and for interest sake here is my non biase test report on my bike.

Top Speed 155km/hr

Cruising speed 120-130 (comfortable)

Fuel concumption:-23km to 24km per liter

Had a GIVI after market taller windscreen for better wind protection installed last time.

It is a great commuter in and around town with good luggage compartment.I went light touring without having to strap anything on the back seat or having to install a box on the bike. The handling and conering capabilities is not good. It wallows when u take high speed sweepers could be becos of the long wheel base. It has sufficient power to go up genting leaving all cars in its wake with the exception of (power cars). The range i get from this bike is around 225km from full tank to touching the red mark on the fuel guage.

the bike seems smoother at around 120 than at 100km/hr. to hit 140 you can feel the engine straining. For a 10 year old bike the engine does not makan engine oil. But is has problems for cold start.Takes many cranks to start it but then again it could be the cause of the carburetor primary jetting. The straight road stability is excellent. The seating position tends to bring your backside sliding forward but can be rectified by pushing you feet on the front floor boards to get yourself into position again. This report is just on my bike other bike may differs. Overall this bike is not bad. It has good storage as well as respectable cruising speed that i can live with and not to forget excellent weather protection.

Hi all,

I am interested in buying a second hand scooter and have narrowed it down to the the Adiva or Burgman 400, though I am leaning towards the Burgman.

Can anyone help me with what to look out for when buying a second hand Burgman 400?

What kind of price am I looking at for a secondhand Burgman?

What motorcycle shops are reputable? i.e. don't ripoff hapless bikers ;-)

Also, assuming I am buying a motorbike from a bikeshop, what are the usual payment terms? Installments? etc.

Thank you for your help in navigating through this!

Cruise safe,

snoop
