My cone bearing was replaced today at MW after I notice (feel) that the nut was loosened again. $120 was spent in the entire service (parts & labour).

Just sharing with you guys.

Hi guys, I felt my engine is a bit hotter like the average days to work (to and fro) What is the likely cause of it?

I've service my engine oil.(filter to be replaced in the next service)

I use optimum grade petrol.

Seldom rev the throttle uneccesary.

Issit cos of the air intake fins being clogged up? Anyone care to comment on this.

Quite nice aerodynamic looks. Almost like fazer but with different head cowling. Quite surprised that yamaha still had innovative ideas on diversions as I thought that the legendary models are almost obsolete. I think this model is sellable here in Singapore as there are not much 600cc with semi-fairing models around.

Good update,Custom.

I think my divvy need to have its carburattor serviced. My top cylinder head gasket was found wear & tear as black sludge was seen near the gasket area. I think that causes the excessive heat to dissipate to my legs.

Does any divvy bugger here ever service carb at HL agent before?

plugs used were iridium and that was about 6months old, pretty sure they are ok.

Air Filter and cab service were done about a year ago at bukit merah, maybe they are timed to change & service.

Thanx for the checklist :thumb:

Hi Bats,

Nolan used before- earlier version, the flip up has an uneven weight distribution most of the weight is at the front near the flip up mechanism. maybe now have some improvement I don't know.

I have the shoei flip up too. so much of a difference, you don't feel it but minus the built-in or mount-on sun-visor.. he,he,hee! But I got a open face for local use. I love the part where you can feel the air cooling inside your helmet on a hot day...thats where you pay the difference if cheaper helmet can provide this with all the extras why not...I buy that, instead paying so much.

I'm using SPC 98 at the moment as i think the grade has adverse effect on the engine performance.

Tyres not yet changed but will most probably be getting BT090 as the lifespan are much longer than BT021 although BT021 are sports tourer performance tyres. I guess for daily commuting, an average but good tyres are adequate as I dun always go for touring anymore.

For air-cooling helmets, i drill a generous number of holes on my MHR helmets and standby some small corks unless it rains :p

Hi BA,

Just for a change - try Esso 95. I've been using it for very long.

Certain petrol burns higher good (bang inside chamber) but heat is another problem that comes along, this due to their additive. Some have cleaning additives like Caltex and Esso and some collect more carbon. Some petrol cause engine to be rough some makes engine run smoother...

Octane 98 creates more heat and it's so far a fast burning fuel (unless compared to a racing fuel it is still slower). As our bike is air-cooled- city riding octane 95 is more then enough. Pump 98 if you ride highway most of the time no problem. stick to 95.
