It's saddening to know that Honda had stopped production for Africa Twin and that it currently doesn't have any successor to that catagory of bikes. If I had the license and the money THEN, I would def. have bought it. I'm still at least 2 years away from my class 2 License. And when the time comes, I would def. be in the market for an Africa Twin-type bike.

1. What is the official name for Africa Twin type of bike? Cruiser/chopper/naked/scrambler/etc

2. What are the existing models of Africa Twin competitor in its class? I know BMW GS is one of them. Anymore?

Thanks for the inputs!

To a certain extend, Honda has created the Varadero 1000, and the Translap 700 to succeed the Africa Twin.

EHh this thread ain't about scramblers leh. Its about big and tall bikes, like Africa Twin and BMW GS. Vara is big, but isn't tall.

BTW I saw a 1000cc Vara at Bedok just now, the engine sounds like an upgraded RXZ leh, not the "smooth" kinda sound that Super 4 of XJR gives off.. Never heard BMW or Africa Twin engine before, but is that "high pitched RXZ sound" the type of sound these bikes (A.T and GS) give off?

well, then i suggest you to hear more different engine sound except of RXZ..

2 stroke and 4 stroke are completely different..

super4, XJR and all those inline 4 are different from AT (Vtwin) and GS (boxer)

if you dont know, search google and read more, than opening up useless threads and clocking post on forum
