i usually gets more than 200km b4 the lights comes on (abt 16 km/ltr). mine is 998 but i think the fuel tank size should be the same 17 litres.

someone told me to be careful when the consumption is especially high. so do some chkup on your bike.

any modifications on your machine?

mine have a full arrow exhaust system... wondering how much it would affect the fuel mileage.

Well, most probably its a fouled plug. Check your spark plug sockets too, might be contaminated with water.

Happened on my Monster before. 3 minutes and a new spark plug later it was running like new. Easy $2 fix.

As for your chain, it sounds pretty scarey to have the clip come off like this....

my 996 is getting only 170+ km before reserve light comes on. that work out to be 13+km/l .... how much ya guys are getting for your superbikes? the mileage is from a combination of highway and street riding.

my 749 is doing a 170KM to 180KM on a 15.5 litres tank before the reserve lights comes on.

My 999 does 230km before reserve lights come on, street riding.

On the track though, it comes on at around 190km.

Any one of you guies know about the bike more.

Please advise me if anything I have to consider in buying that.

It's a blue 99 ST4 I believe?

Used to belong to Justin who actually posted the bike for sale here.

Ended up trading in for a new K6.

Any accident before?

Is he the only owner?

I will be using it for day to day riding...is it good to do so?

Hope you understand about a persons thinking when buying a second hand bike.

Appreciate you help?

Thanks again friend

hi ktkt,

would love to join you guys during night outings, but since the duke is very loud + my current situation, i dare not risk riding at night.

maybe when it's proper for me to ride openly, then i'll join you guys again. :cheeky:

you know of anywhere i can bleed my clutch? reasonable price

upz :bouncefire:

Quite easy to bleed yourself.

1) Pull in the Brake/Clutch lever fully and hold it there

2) Loosen the bleeding nipple

3) Your brake/clutch lever will go in some more after 2)

4) Tighten the bleeding nipple

5) Loosen the clutch lever or brake lever.

6) Check that your clutch/brake fluid level does not go below min mark on the fluid holder and top up.

Repeat the whole cycle again and again.

Purpose is to purge out any air bubbles inside the brake line.

BTW, you selling ur ST4?

Interested party jay_ks here.

I *think* he's the first owner. Not too sure.

The log card should be able to tell.

No accidents that I know of.

I use this for my transport bike and never had a problem so far.

Any issues?

Bike is jerky at low rpms.

High temperature if kenna jam.

Other than the above 2 characteristics, can't think of any fault with the bike.

Maintanance

- 20k km timing belt change *critical*

- 20k km fuel filter change

- 20k km valve clearance

Other than the above 3, rest are standard ie. engine oil change, clutch/brake fluid bleeding, brake pad change etc etc....

The stock ST4 chain and front/rear sprocket are really durable. I had mine changed at 40,000km and they still looked pretty much okay.

So are the brake pads, long life..... Still on the first set for the front brakes.

Okay lar... Liddat gotta DIY style liao.

You know the liquid shampoo dispenser? The one u press press and the liquid soap will come out?

Attach the bottom end of it to your brake nipple using a tube, loosen the nipple, and keep dispensing....

Or if you're fast enuff with your co-ordination, the press the lever, loosen and tighten the nipple method works fast too.
