anyone know which is better as compare ducati monster s4r to s2r .

s2r only available in 1000cc?

thanks:bounce: :bounce:

The first model of S2R was an 800cc, the newer model S2R1000 is like its name suggests, a 1000cc machine.

The S4R on the other hand, comes in the original 996 engine, or the newer S4R Testrastretta, with the 999 engine.

I think it boils down to personal preferance. Both bikes are different, neither one is better than the other.

ok thanks neo. but wat bout the engine power?

since s2r is 2 valve per cylinder. s4r is 4 valve per cylinder.

i tink the s4r is a beter machine after all. but jus wonder y ducati produce s2r in the first place. strange. :bounce: :bounce:

If more power is better, then why does Honda produce the Super4? Why not just produce CB1300s?

Different bike suits different needs. Much as I love my 999, after 5 minutes in a traffic jam I start to miss my Monster already.

The Ducati 1000DS engine is probably the best engine they make. Its in more Ducati's than any other engine, and it goes to show how versetile it is.

care to elaborate bit on the versatility of monster or the engine 1000ds?

overall wat is the different between monster to 999?

perhaps monster is more for daily usage to fit in to the traffic congestion but 999 is more for track usage, m i right to say so?

There are more than 10 different bikes in the Monster range, and 3 999s to choose from, so you can't generalize like this too.

You seem new to Ducatis. My advice to you is to get one within your budget, with design and specifications which you like. When you ride the bike, you will understand more about the engine.

I can show you several dyno graphs, power charts, describe pros n cons of various Ducati engine types, type out long boring explanations about my biased pro-Ducati views but end of the day you're buying the bike, and i'm not getting paid to sell Ducatis :D

i agree with wat u say. but jus a general explanation that which suit our lifestlye in asia country. especially i dun reali hav much time to go down to track.

just a target to get a duke and i jus wish to know wat is beter to use it when get stuck if traffic congestion..

as u know too 999 seating posture is more lean down and monster is more up right .

i know u wont earn anything but dun say til like tat mah. haha. hope u dun mind yeah. cheerss:bounce: :bounce:

i think why there are s2r and s4r simply is because the s2r series are aircooled, much simpler machines based on the improvised m9(the original monster?).

s4r series are using superbike's engines, well basically a naked superbike tuned for more torque..

Well, look at it this way.

S4R vs S2R1000, you're paying more than 10k more, plus almost doubling your major service costs, for power you wouldn't really get to use.

The bike will also be more cluttered with water cooling system. Theres something nice about the simplicity of Air Cooled Ducati engines.
