For a 8 year old TA200 (same as mine), leaning the mixture out tends to improve throttle response but engine heats up fast at high rpms, decreasing power over a while.

Lean mix is good for light-duty short range work, for economy, keep it rich for long distance/ high temperature runs on the highway. Indeed a rich mixture increases vibrations but the engine runs at a much lower temperature. Which is good.

Mixture screw is located on the left side of the carburettor, towards the front of that seam in the middle. It's the only thing you can turn with a normal screwdriver so.. have fun with it and make small adjustments only (1/8 - 1/4 turn, and tune only when engine is warmed).

Sniff the exhaust to see whether you're lean, rich or very rich. Nothing like waking up to the aroma of unburnt hydrocarbons in the morning.

people,

thanks! will take the bike to planet and let ah-chong check it proper.

a trip to planet was done...

he resolved it quickly.

turns out there is a air suction relay valve which had failed in my ta 200 and he replaced it.

also added a chain tensioner.

I like these guys. they are knowledgeable and reasonable.will be taking my ta 200 to them for anything. cheers!

BTw, anyone care to explain the purpose of this air suction relay valve here? sequence of flow of air? and where this valve falls in the flow? thanks!

don't worry, its one single tank... you don't have to turn to reserve to "fill up the reserve tank"...

thanks! hmm... but interesting... why when i was using RESERVE, it only uses the RESERVE amount.. not the full tank?

lol of course not... when its at "reserve", it will use the entire tank...

from what i understand, this reserve function is like putting a vertical straw in e bottom of ur tank... so when u switch to on, e petrol goes in from e top of the straw... when run out of petrol, u switch to reserve, petrol travels through e bottom of e straw... can get e picture? :)

Hello all,

rode into Malaysia recently in there evening and realised that our stock headlamp is rather dim, had to rely on a friends brighter headlight for proper illumination (he was riding a derbi adventure), any recommended bulbs we can buy and install ourselves to improve the brightness of the stock headlamp?

Thanks!!

doesnt HID lamps require ballasts? if yes, then how do u manage to secure the ballast?

could it be that current supply to the bulb is not good?

what most of us did is to get a bulletheadlight... Then uses a H4 bulb..

* note : stock headlight cannot use HID or any other bulb. *

fixed up a S4 headlight and all is well....

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.

zpjohnny wanted a S4 headlight I believe.

If that doesn't cause havoc with the electrics (55W vs 35W stock) then I'll put S4 windscreen and label it Honda Super 2 :p

Hahaha, better make sure you patent it!

air relay valve...United States Patent 3730226

An air relay valve including an enclosed housing separated into an air supply chamber and a control chamber by a flexible diaphragm Air pressure introduced into the control chamber flexes the diaphragm into the air supply chamber. This opens the air supply chamber to an air pressure source with ports directing the air pressure from the air supply chamber into air lines that activate, e.g., air brakes. The relay valve is further designed whereby the inlet from the air pressure source is kept open until the pressure on both sides of the diaphragm are equalized causing return of the diaphragm and automatic closing of the air pressure source. The present invention is characterized in providing a diaphragm wherein the two sides have equal surface areas exposed to the air pressure so that automatic shut off occurs at the point when the p.s.i. of the air in the air lines substantially equals the p.s.i. of the air in the control chamber with exhausting of the air pressure occurring through an exhaust port in direct communication with the air supply chamber. A further improvement is the inclusion of a dampening chamber to dampen vibration of the diaphragm assembly.
