Monitor it for a couple more days(park in diff spots) and if it's still leaking, go get it fixed.

a reed valve is a spring operated rubber valve...something like a one way valve..

during the intake stage the valve opens and when the intake valve ( at th engine ) closes..

the reed valve closes..this opening and closing of reed valve is actuated by pressure diffrences..

so in the case of bike engines..this prevent what is known as blow back or flash back of gases from the combustion chamber. the result of the reed valve failure is a oily air filter..

now u know why sometimes the air filter is so oily

thanks ezzy... this may be a different valve. it is after the carubrettor and located below the fuel tank. the thing is, after changing this, there is no back-fire.

what is the reason for the backfire?

also, related question on carb tuning.

- a screw on the left hand side on the carb. slightly difficult to get to [ i know the screw for idling adjustment in on the RHS].

-if i turn this screw clock-wise and will that result in a leaner mix or a rich mix?

- also, for optimum mix, should i set it halfway? [i turn fully from one direction; count the no. of turns, then turn it back to half the number of total turns]

The spanner is in the tool kit and yes, you have to side stand it to change the EO. Maybe you can read up more from Phantom TA200: How to DIY Guide(with Pics) Updated! 13/12/09 http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=244355, for more info. Cheers!

holy blahblah! something new happened to me again~~

This time round my speedometer stopped functioning =.="

I had not been riding for the past few days, last known activities is removing some covers from my bike to diy spray.

I realised my speedometer isn't working when I wanted to ride to SSDC to register for Class 3 .

Hmm, if I never did wrongly, I figured out that the speedometer cables and such is actually located at the left side, under the oval chrome cover, am I right?

Is there any solutions or DIY methods to check out what's wrong with it? Like cable loose, wire short or speedo spoilt?

Thanks once again all the lao jiao(s)~ I am pretty problematic with my bike xD

Check if loosen first, then if loosen just DIY tighten ok already.

I once went all the way to Planet to replace my speedo cable only to find out that the cable was loosen and about to come off that's why cannot register the speed. Luckily Ah Chong let me refund because the cable haven't fixed on. :thumb:

If you see it's really snapped then got to buy a new one.

Okie.

How to see if its loose somewhere ? Like any places to check ?

I tried pulling here and there and nothing seemed not connected. Still very nub to these technical stuffs =x

see ur front wheel...there is a cable routed all the way to the front fork, diameter ard 5mm...now u see it already? dismantle the 2 screws holding it...once u manage to take out the screw u can pull off the cable...

so cable pulled out already right? u'll see that the end u pull out has exposed the flat head, now give the flat head a pull away from the protective cover, if u can pull it out, it means the cable has broken.. so that is ur cause of non working speedo.

if u cant pull, that means the other end of the speedo cable has dropped out from the speedo casing...

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.

went down to take a look just now.

found the cable on the wheel. then I pull, the other end totally not connected lols..

Anyway, I didnt bring along my bike keys to try out, so not sure if it's still working ,

but I took a picture of it.

is the end of the cable like this? some metal wire with a square shape cross section??

does mine looked normal ? or is this considered snapped?

and sorry for the influx of rust underneath the casing =X

What about the other end of the cable, the end connected near the wheel?

Maybe BOTH ends loose?

And if you want to test very easy, hold the wire in your hand like in your pic, then push the bike a few meters, if you can see the wire flat head rotate, that means the cable inside is ok.

If not then either the cable other end is loose as well or the inside snapped, so cannot connect to rotate.

hi everyone,

my ta200 when pillion people have no power. even when it reached 90km/h it feel like 50-60km/h. This happen after i went the shop to change the engine oil. does this have to do with the eo?

Went to take a look again. I checked the end at the wheel , nothing wrong with it, works fine. I did the test that you suggested, and the wire head does rotate.

Mine wire head is a little rusty, any possibility that it affects the rotating mechanism within the speedo socket?

If not , and if the wire is considered working condition through these tests, what are the other possible problems of the speedo not working?

speedo itself spoilt?

Anyway, slightly at the bottom right hand side of the speedo, there is this L shaped rubber tubing. Is it supposed to be connected to anything?
