Ok thanks for the info bro :)

Can I ask the choke question again? I think my bike really don't have choke!! The knob that I mention last time is not a choke..I went to look around other phantoms in the car park and I saw their choke! Mine is registered in 2002 dec...FV plate..is it that model don't have choke?? I have looked around 10 phantoms...I only manage to find 1 similar to mine..no choke also!!

yeah you're supposed to let the oil circulate by running the engine for a minute or so before checking, but usually i just dip it in cold. it shows a slightly higher reading when the engine is dead cold, or very hot. I just use agaration and estimate accordingly.
dont need to warm up

this is reccommendations i totally disagree..

...checking eo level is best done when engine is cold, best is after overnigh parking where all the eo will be at the bottom of the sump...

warming up engine ...some oil will be held in all sorts of nooks and corner in the engine...thus affecting your reading..

ie warm up 1 min..2min..3 min????

with mineral oil or synthectic oil with all their oil viscosity variations...the measurement is not accurate..as method is flawed...too many variations..

Bro, This method is recommended by Honda. Their engineers know best. I agree that when you warm up the oil goes and sits in nooks and corners. But the max and min levels they have caliberated on the dip stick is by taking into account this aspect that oil will go up in the nook and corners. So if you are doing it on a cold engine better use a differently caliberated dip stick.

Wow, my guess was not bad about the cost :). BTW, did you overhaul the engine, change piston or any other parts? How old is your bike?

hi to all PK,

I'm new to this forum and only got my license during February.

Recently i encounter some issue with my phantom.

When i ride continuously, its ok.

Once i stop before traffic light, sometime the bike just die off (engine just switch off)

I have to desperately restart the engine as to prevent holding up traffic behind.... A little embarrassing too...

Pls advise me on the course of action.

that means very hot..but still stall..

readjust your idle..

clean/replace your filter

test your bike when it is hot...kill it..and try restart immediately..if it cannot be restarted..it means fuel mix is very lean.too.

hope this helps.

try adjusting your idling knob first?

if you bike is running too lean, use a minus screw driver to turn the fuel-air mixture screw clock wise.

This screw is at the curbrator, when u sit down on ur bike, left side.

do take a look at this thread for some basic maintenance :D

very easy. you first need to remove the seats. 3 screws, 1 at the back, 2 at the sides, below the centre where the rider seat n pillion seats meet.

from there, it's just one screw in the middle, and the tank can slide out easily. i dont have pics to show you, but shouldnt be too hard to figure out.

Got bike must ride!

Ok I took pics of the connectors coming from the tank. On one side, we have the fuel valve, and it looks straightforward enough to simply turn the valve to off and disconnect the hose after it. But for the other side, we have a hose coming out with no easy way to stop the fuel from running out. Does this mean I'll have to clamp this?

eh actually, you can choose not to remove the speedo. i just removed the speedo cable from the left side of the front wheel, and took the whole thing out. more things to spray anyway ;) hahaha

the other side, no fuel spilled from there when i took it out, but for safety, i put white tape on both sides, the one with the valve, and the other side. just cover the tube mouths with white tape. good enough for me :)

Got bike must ride!

if te rattling still there after the chains are correctly tension..

if this comes from the chains...i thoink the chains is a basket case...

never do anything silly like removing a link so that the tension could be adjusted as this is asking for trouble..

can you elaborate how was the chains being chained..ha ha.
