remove all the bolts and nuts that secure the exhaust pipe to bike.

ie at foot pegs and at header

I just took a look... Torque wrench necessary to reattach the nuts at the engine area?

Hey guys ! Would like to ask for recommendations for tyres. My bike have a tendency to be slippery but when I see my tyre, it look damn brand new. My brother said that the tyre is those hard kind and will always look brand new but is no good.

Any recommendations for tyres ?

Metzler Lasertec.

One touch test you can do to see the "quality" of the rubber. Do this during the morning before you ride...

Rubber has a friction when you rub across from left to right of the tyre when its cold (term this as sticky). There's some restriction for your finger to go across. The more difficult to move your finger across the better (stickier better)... "cheapo" type when cold is kinda smooth and lets your finger go across easily... (Less sticky)

Usually it become stickier when its heated up (Notice how the F1 cars always move from side to side before the start of the race? this is to quickly warm up the tires and make it more sticky) But if its cold and its sticky... its better :) but of course... one can argue about durablity... meaning with more "grip" the tyre wears faster... personally... safety first... anyway its about $160 front and back... fair deal for at least 1.5-2 years depending on mileage :)

Have fun!

Hey guys ! I would like to ask, how much pressure do you all input for your tyres ? Front and back. As for me I usually pillion my girlfriend and total weights about 170kg. So any recommendations for pressure ?

Official manual seems to quote 200kpa for both front and back... but then depending on tyre size... I prefer 220 front and 240back.

I ever had a mechanic during servicing serviced it to 260 front and 280back... i didn't realised it until a week later... sure i had better mileage... but the "harder" ride and being able to feel every single nook and cranies of the road wasn't a comfortable feeling...

Usually after i pump the air it last for 2 weeks before dropping to 200F and 220F so that works out good for me :)

I think max KPA should be indicated on the tyre sidewall. Do check it out.

That's old brake fluid with rubbish or rust over time inside. Fluid supposed to be clear and absorb water over time. Not sure if the fluid will perform well under heavy braking in your case so better to go flush out with new one. Change brake fluid very cheap only.

Brake fluid got shelf life one after opening , will absorb water over time and change color, IIRC got PEG that's why I don't use old fluid

Hi guys, any of you guys know how to remove the chrome side cover ( Front part left side). Manage to unscrew the screw at the bottom but didn't manage to take it out. Thanks

Need to use a bit of force. Maybe your cover is jammed at the catch which is at the top.

Hi guys!

Tried to start my bike earlier...at neutral, no power upon pressing starter & twisting the throttle. Only have a "Tik, Tik" sound every time I depress the starter.

After panicking for a couple of minutes (was at Basement 3 of Causeway Point...), I kicked down to 1st gear & tried starting the bike. It worked.

Upon reaching the carpark at my place, I killed the engine at neutral & tried starting it again.

The "Tik, Tik" is back...& this time, the bike won't start at 1st gear either.

Anyone care to share any possible remedies, please?

Battery problem. I used to have the same problem. If you can push start already, try to send it to the workshop to change the battery

They say that the new iu is the main problem, as it drain the battery. So have to get the self-maintain battery. I paid mine about $40 at LeeHuat motor at BukitPanjang

tiktik = starter relay clicking but starter motor not turning over. batt may not have charge.

if you manage to push start check if your battery is charging - charging usually ~20-30mins of riding.

if cannot hold charge, maybe charging system got problem - rectifier or coil.

in any case how did u start in 1st gear? starter not supposed to spin if not in neutral or clutched in.

if you didnt clutch in then there is a short somewhere or there maybe other electrical problems contributing to your battery issues.

What is this "self-maintain battery", please? Is it a battery meant just for the IU?

Is it only available at LeeHuat? Is this the correct address (from Google):

"Lee Huat Co

873 Upper Bukit Timah Road

Singapore 678176"

actually phantom uses maintenance free battery Yuasa dunno what model around that price. Usiochan can elaborate what is "self maint batt"?

if its the same batt that usio is talking about then its a common battery available in many shops. i got from unique and planet before but different price. =X

as for your electrics, try clutching in while in neutral also - sometimes it works but its usually an electrical problem if this wors. (ah chong say its not enuff grounding)

if not u need to verify if its yr batt or charging system first lo. good luck!

Sorry guys, it's a maintenance free battery, cause previously my phantom have this problem after I installed the new iu, thus the uncle at LeeHuat told me was maintenance free, means something like self maintaining .. so I just use what they say !! Sorry for misunderstanding

Could be one of the relays which is faulty. Happen to me once. Need to test them one by one using voltmeter.
