day time should be okay bah, which shopping mall you intending to park? One place i do normally go (jb i usually drive) its by tuas side, gelang patah there got one chinese restaurant in the residential area , and down a bit got bukit indah (Jusco + Shopping) so its kind of killing two birds with one stone.... If go by woodlands , the only food that i enjoy is during night time, go to the sentosa area eat lok lok...

Bukit Indah sounds good. Worth riding in? or should i just take a bus straight there.

You parked your bike there before?

may I ask how old is your bike??

Okay. but how do you prop up the bike? Pushing it back & forth is so troublesome... I'm lazy haha.

Ya the previous owner never wash the bike for very long so everywhere also dirty. Very obvious cuz my bike is white lol.

you can use a car jack :thirsty:

if urs is the older ta200, u can use my style of jacking wif a car jack..

turn ur handlebar to the right, and use a bungee cord or sumting to secure it so it doesnt turn... this helps the bike stabilise n nt move forward wen u jack it up...

then place d car jack rite at the place whr u exhaust pipe connects to the mid-section.. it is rite near the brake pedal area... wen jack it ryt at the joint, it will be stable.. :) happy cleaning ur chains!

okay will try to ask around for a car jack...

btw what's the proper procedure for starting a cold engine? Normally i just rev a bit then the engine will be stable but on a particularly cold night after rain (wed) I couldn't get it going. Had to start with the throttle open then straight away move off.

I was parking under shelter so definitely not wet spark plug problem.

Thanks for the info. Autosol is the black tube with gold bands right? I read somewhere, that it actually is abrasive, wonder if any expert here can clarify, as in it gets the rust, but the chrome beneath as well? Not too sure about this part though

Use a bit of engine oil and orange cloth to wipe first. If the rust is not serious, it will come off.

If the rust is eating in, then use abrasol/autosol/metasol or whatever ---sol you can get your hands on.

And one more thing, which suspension are you talking about? Front or back?

hmmm... I think turning the handlebar to the left might be more stable... why not give it a try :cheeky:

Should use the choke. Pull it, on engine(do not rev) then close choke.

cam chain tensioner. Planet motors at ubi will do a good job. get it changed or problems can snowball.

How safe is it for phantom to be parked at shopping mall?

I dont think it is as "hot" as S4 or class 2 bikes right??

I wanna go scout alone around jb area for food before actually bringing my gf in.. :|

Erm, i dun really reccomend to bring sg bikes in. Anything non cub will attract attention. Also, bring gf inside also rather unsafe. You wouldnt want anything to happen to her right?

I had cold start problem again last night...

Pulled choke but couldn't get it running even after a few cranks. Resorted to started with throttle slightly open. Then if I let go of throttle immediately engines dies... Have to hold it for about 5 sec then it's stable, after which I'll close the choke.

I know revving for long periods with the choke open will destroy the engine right? is 5 sec safe?

Sorry how old is your bike?

For me, 4 yo TA200 custom 4, even cold start, like 2 days never start then rainy day start kind, i normally crank can get it to start already, rarely do i throttle, 5s does sound a tad too long for me. I have never used choke to start though as the need never arose.

When was your last service? Air filter check? Spark plug?

wah... I took over the bike on the 21 dec 2010. Went to ah chong the next day to let him test ride he said no problems... Only recently then cold start problem occurs.

Bike is 8 years old, I just checked the air filter: it's new. Can't check the spark plug cuz the bike didnt come with any tools..

Thing is after it's warmed up it doesn't give any problems like stalling at traffic light. Servicing is due soon. Will bring down to ah chong let him see..

Thanks for the replies

Speaking of which, can the tools be bought? Especially the spark plug tool and the rear suspension adjuster.

Heard it can be bought at mustafa, not sure though. But the wrench tool actually most adjustable spanner should be able to help you, as for the rear suspension, its called a C-wrench if i'm not mistaken, should be able to buy separtely at most hardware shops.

i used to cover my bike and recently noticed that a stray cat hide under it; after some time I noticed scratch line on the tank. Definitely animal scratches. The cat must have been sleeping on my bike overnight. Then I took out cover and now I notice scratch line on the seat cushion !!!!!

anyone has the similar experience ? What can i do????
