Hi to all, just got my 2b last thursday..Interested in a Phantom TA200.. i dun intend to get a new bike as i intend to go for 2A next year..would like to check what is the market rate for a Phantom TA200 with 2 years coe left? Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks!

I might be looking at a full overhaul...how much would it be? The reason for me to be doing this is because after riding for sometime, my exhaust tend to emit smoke...which really scares me...and my friends think theres something wrong with the piston as theres a hitting sound coming from the engine when i trottle...so yea...im not really sure of this problem...is it because of my weight?? please help!

How much would it roughly cost?

 

actually i went and took a closer look(hear)...when i trottle slowing in neutral gear...no hitting sound...but when i open trottle hard..there one hit sound of the first pump...the rest is normal reving...till i stop and rev again...again one "tAK" sound at the start....but if trottle slowly..no hitting sound...so hows the situation?

an overhaul is expensive stuff. 300 bucks for full overhaul. top overhaul is slightly less 100-200 bucks.

 

anyway, weird sounds coming from engine, don't risk it la bro.

 

just ride to planet motorcycle, ask ah chong see what's wrong. maybe now pay abit won't lead to serious problem later.

 

i'm sure you won't be riding in peace hearing all those noises either.

1k + depending on condition. Remember to take into account your road tax and insurance plus transfer fee.

I am interested in buying a used phantom and wanted suggestions on bike shops that sell phantom but not at crazy prices. Something like 2 year COE left phantom for 1k and 4 year COE left for 2k kind of prices.

I paid 700 for a fullover haul with big bore on my phantom previously.

I was quote 300+ for a top overhaul.

 

Emit smoke, what colour is your smoke?

If its black, not too big an issue, its juse carbon from your pipe.

If its white + weird clingking sound from engine block (TA200), chances are, piston ring lose. That was what exactly happened to my phantom last year.

 

Piston ring lose - engine oil sip in - engine oil burn - come out white smoke.

Drop in torque, pick up & top end should surface.

If these are what you're experiencing, go for a full overhaul, run in your bike all over again & you're good to go.

Finance damage, personally i prepared 1k. More thn enough.

Look for phantom in the used bike section. Better than buying from shop. You never know the condition of the bike, plus shop don't let you test ride. If alignment out or frame bend due to accident, you will never know until you buy it. Then it will be too late. I got conned when I bought a Intruder 750 many years ago. After that hard to sell. Frame bend cannot fix. You will be screwed.

actually shop do let u test ride. haha. actually i think shop normally will at least repair it to minimum working condition before selling. just that its more ex lah. lols

white smoke...TA200 i only notice it when i stopped...white smoke slowly flows out of the exhaust...for awhile...
