Somehow I suspected this would be the case...

So another thing you need to consider when choosing your 2A bike is.... you would probably be riding it for quite awhile, not just a year before upgrade. But that will mean you can safely spent the money and effort to customise it (ie, lowering) to suit your needs instead of just make-do for the time being.

Well, who knows after you get used to your new bike, 200+kg nighthawk will feel somewhat like the S4 for you now. :D

Dun give up so soon. You might never know you'll upgrade a few years down the road... well... I did, many years later. :cheeky:

yup yup.. tat's why my qn was which are the bikes tat can be zng-ed till low low. i dun wan to invest in one, end up i can't lower it sufficiently n suffer with it. cos i wanna enjoy my ride, not struggling with it.

actually it's true. when i 1st rode my 117kg bike, i found it stressful n heavy to handle. but now, after taking 2A, i find my bike super light n easy to handle. even though i can't 2 legs tiptoe. guess even if eventually i can't find a 2A bike, riding the S4 for these few times did boost up my confidence in riding.

dun worry, i wun give up on the 2A. i'll take it again if i fail. i just hope i can be as lucky n "on form" as when i was taking my 2B test back then. hee...

I would recommend the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. This bikes should meet ur requirments. As for handling wise, it is far better to ride than a SF400. Performance wise is good too. Pricing also value for money. Few Ks cheaper than SF400 (brand New).

Just a gentle reminder, it is important for you to engage the side stand before you come down from ur bike & sit on ur bike 1st before you kick up the side stand.

Go round & do a search & ask the pricing on the things you will need to do to ur bike.

Just be aware that some mechanics may just blindly zng for you according to your instructions without telling you how much it will affect the bike's performance. Still very important to ask around for good recommendations. Any volunteers with info to share regarding this?

I used to find Yamaha SDR200 heavy when i first rode... haha. Strength can be slowly gained, together with better technique (using the strength efficiently), you definately can handle bigger bikes progressively. Which is why i said after riding your new 2A bike, and getting used to it, you may soon feel the confidence to try taking on the heavier Class 2 bikes. Height may still be a problem, but better technique can compensate, at least for the short time of learning/test.

I had wished you all the best for your TP, so I'm not gonna repeat that. Just avoid all Immediate Failures, and you should go through. BBDC has got like 87% passing rate, and on my test date, i think only those poor fellas who got immediates didnt pass. Whatever you do, keep your balance, and keep the bike upright whether you are on or off the bike, you'll definately pass.

And I meant dun give up on your dreams of class 2... :cheeky:

When's your test date? There's bound to be alot of volunteers to organise a cheering/supporting party from here, judging by the response to this thread... hahahaha. Too bad, count me out, i'm not a morning person. :D

does anybody know which 2A bikes can zng until low low? i'm only 1.5m, 40kg n can't seem to find any 2A bike tat i can handle. height n weight issues.

any suggestions? thanks...

You already answered your own question.

guess even if eventually i can't find a 2A bike, riding the S4 for these few times did boost up my confidence in riding.

Super 4. Why not?

I know a girl who's also 1.5m tall and weigh just 40+, and she has a CL2 license. She started off on a Phantom, moved on to an Super 4, and then to a FZS600.

She has even tried using my previous R1. Perhaps a bit of a struggle when stopped, but comfortable once on the move.

Your problem now is all in your head.

Even guys who are 1.7 to 1.75m tall WILL tiptoe when striding their CL2 sportbikes. But guess what, it's all a matter of getting used to it.

As for manually moving the bike around. Don't paddle the bike around when seated. Get off and learn to PUSH it around.

Learn to use your head when adapting to a situation.

Eg....

- Judge your parking space before you ride straight into a lot and find yourself stuck trying to get out.

- If a parking space is sloped down into the lot, then reverse into it.

- Recce a car park (especially a ramped entry) before you enter, so you won't find yourself stuck on a down ramp trying to reverse back out

- At a traffic light, if you're able to stop next to a curb and use that to put your leg down... why not?

Cruisers are as low as you can get.... and i believe ah peks are in their own league, cuz they don't bother to wash bikes and made them look sick. :cheeky:

Sports all are rather high and don't even need to mention scrams... You can't zng low low as either the wheel gets smaller or you shortern the shocks travel length. Both will spoil the looks and handling.

i juz thought of a bike that has a rather low seat height in stock. That would be the suzuki GSR 400. Its has the lowest seat height of all naked bikes i've seen so far. sporty enough... powerful enough... fast enough... and lighter thn cruisers. what other kind of bike can give you such combi? :thumb:

gsr has a higher seat height compared to S4. i need to tiptoe for both legs on a gsr n flat feet for S4. wat do u think?

height is part of an issue but not weight. u may b light weight but pushing bike is not using cow strength. its the momentum n technique. the technique is not something that u can learn over night. it really needs practice.

if u worry the traffic light stop, at all means, dun stop the bike! go slow when u c red light n when green, just throttle. parking, b sure where u wanna park n just ride in once n straight. dun go like park on a slopy ground with the front facing down n after that, u need to reverse the bike upslope.

like wat others had suggested, go to motor shop n try sitting on the bikes. u need to try then u know. the most recommanded shop is looi's motor. can sit all u wan n got air con.

even my s4 is much more heavy then those 750 in ssdc...

but if u can down your front/rear fork and cut your seat to the lowest.

it might work for s4:)

adjusting front fork n rear shock will offset the bike's load setting. not recommanded to do that cos it will affect handling n comfort drastically. cutting of seat cushion seems good but eventually will feel butt pain cos not enough cushion support.

its better for the person to get used to the bike rather than change the bike to suit the person.

haa.. i dun wan any support or cheerleading man... too stressful liao... and so paiseh... so i better dun say when it is. lol. i'm also not a morning person. and gotta wake up sooo early for the test! duh...

i really might not consider class 2. i can only chew wat's big enough for me.

i'll prob just go bike shopping when i'm free and gather watever suggestions the shops may give n see how things goes. hopefully can find something comfortable for me. will keep in mind those few potential suggested models.

Haha, ok, better dun add to your stress levels so you get to pass one shot and forget all about the heavy S4 plus the stupid slope.

Do let us know the outcome of the bike selection. Who knows in the future there might be another petite fella scratching his/her head thinking hard on which 2A bike to buy...

Try leaning a little forward more on Super 4.

You can try getting Ducati Monster 400. Not really high. If only you could find any.

yup yup, tat's wat i did. so tat at least i can bend my arms a bit while doing the courses n more stable. but at the end of my 100min lessons, my back feels tired.

i got a friend who just acquired the monster 400 recently. i hopped on it. felt a lil higher than S4, but as heavy. and the handle bar is further than the S4. i'm leaning toooo forward with it tat i think i cannot straighten by back after riding it. haa.

DRZ400??!! tat's my dream bike lor! i love the motard tires on tat scram. lol.

but it's too high. seat ht is 890mm leh. need to lower like siao leh.. i can only take max 770mm on a slim bike, so it's like 120mm to lower. even if can lower, think the bike will look off by the time lower so much. and handling will be affected i believe. maybe the front fender will hit the tires when go across a hump. :cheeky:

ermmm, handling wise i cannot comment cos i nv tried one wif lowered suspension, but i sat on it before, indeed lower alot.

fender will not hit tires lah, dun worry, haha.

my friend 1.5++m is riding drz wif lowered suspension, will not hit anything unless the hump is more than 12cm bah.

Dear qwerty07,

It's wonderful that u r keen on riding.

What I believe, even if u lack the height and weight... with the correct technique and confidence,

u will definately be able to ride and handle any bike that comes to mind.

but when it comes to rainy days, there's definitely some issues based on experience.

When the road is slippery, I would try my best not to ride as its dangerous especially when coming to a stop or going in between cars when there's traffic congestion.

whatever your decision, just enjoy the ride.
