Rossi subsequently signed a new contract with Yamaha for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, then for 2009 and 2010.

MOTOGP: Rossi Admits 2011 F1 Switch ‘Could Happen’

Written by: SPEED Staff / GMM

07/08/2009

Despite deciding against the move several years ago, and dismissing subsequent speculation, Valentino Rossi has now admitted moving to Formula 1 with Ferrari "could happen" in 2011.

That is when the flamboyant multiple MotoGP champion's Yamaha contract will be expired.

"Yes, I am quite happy to talk

about it," Rossi, 30, told the Daily Star Sunday while in Leguna Seca for the US MotoGP round.

"It could happen in 2011," he added. "Why not?"

It is believed the current rumors are related to Ferrari's considerations about perhaps running three cars in Formula 1 in the near future.

this will be a first - from gp to f1!

and if he continues to win, he will be sensational to watch, no. 1 on 2 n 4 wheels.

Hmm but it'll be tough for him to perform any daredevil acts as the team and sponsers will be looking at him drive the expensive costing 4 wheeler unlike his MotoGp bike..F1 drivers are not supposed to crash or damage their vehicle unlike MotoGp, I wonder how are the riders punished for MotoGp when they crash..

not really a first. altho not common either. now he might have to choose f1 or the breakaway series, if that happens.

Really, who were the other champs who switched from gp to f1?

how did they do after the switch?

the budget difference between the 2 is nearly double.

if he has no room for his antics and with the added pressure from sponsers, alot more gp fans will be attending f1 races, should be a spectacle.

Rossi: Donington Free Practice “difficult but important”

Friday, 24 July 2009

Reigning World Champion on Friday third place and Lorenzo speculation.

Rossi on early Donington going

Valentino Rossi has won in the wet before at Donington Park. A veteran of the track and a renowned wet weather expert, the reigning World Champion and current series leader needed no convincing as to the crucial need to work with his M1 under any conditions on Friday evening –a policy that took him up to third in the timesheets and only barely off the top spot.

“These strange conditions are always hard to ride in but it was important that we had some time in the wet today because we were able to understand our level. We’re quite happy because I felt confident and I was able to be fast today,” said Rossi on the afternoon session, in which there was both a dry racing line and wet patches on the notoriously slippery British track.

“The conditions changed a lot during the hour and by the end it was mostly dry, which meant it was quite hard to ride with the wet tyres but we were still quite fast and in the end we’re third, which is a good start. We’ve got a few modifications to make as usual after a Friday but we have a good base. Tomorrow it seems it will be completely dry so hopefully by the end of the day we will be ready for Sunday, whatever the weather,” he continued.

Expect Rossi to face competition from close to home this weekend, courtesy of teammate and persistent rival Jorge Lorenzo. The Spaniard is still undecided as to whether he will continue to share a partitioned garage with Rossi next season, but that is not something that overly alters the 30 year-old’s perception of the young pretender to his crown.

“Jorge is a great rider and a great teammate; I’ve heard the rumours about him going ot another team, but it doesn’t make a difference to me. I’m already signed for next year, and I think that he will be a great rival on either a Yamaha or another bike,” he concluded.

Dont know where you guys hear that Rossi is going to Ducati. No source provided and I cant find any news about this (this news will be huge if its true) and never heard it anywhere else not even rumours.

This wouldnt be true for one reason, he and burgess has developed the 800CC M1 for the past couple of years and now is the best bike in the field, and i dont think he will go to Ducati which has proved to be a difficult bike to ride and have to do it all over again. And no way will Ducati risk losing Stoner(the only rider so far that is competitive on the Ducati) by signing Rossi.

I also heard rumours..abt him goin to Ducati but as a satelite team..not under Ducati factory. The rumours say that Stoner is not improving the bike as to what Rossi is improving the Yamaha M1. But the fact is..when is he changin to Ducati?...
