Car v bike: which is fastest? It’s the age-old debate, argued in pubs, on internet forums, among friends, in magazines and on TV. To prove two wheels are better than four forever, we’re pitching arguably the best road bike in the world against one of the best road cars, in perfect conditions at the Almeria circuit in Spain.

In the bike corner we have a Ducati Desmosedici RR, and in the car corner a Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Here's how they measure up:

FERRARI 430 SCUDERIA - £171,489.41

This is a good as supercars get. The Ferrari 430 Scuderia is a stripped out, hotted-up, lightweight trackday special, powered by a 4308cc V8 engine and making a claimed 503bhp and 347ftlb. Ferrari says it will do 198mph and 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds. It weighs just 1350kg – light for a car, but way heavier than the bike.

Power: 503bhp Weight: 1350kg Power to weight ratio: 0.37bhp/kg

DUCATI DESMOSEDICI RR - £58,008 (£42,621 new + extras)

Like the Ferrari, this special Desmo is packed with Grand Prix tech (it’s almost a GP bike with lights) and makes 203bhp, thanks to its Corse exhaust. It has lightweight 16.5-inch JHP Marchesini wheels so we could run it with pukka Pirelli racing slicks. The Ducati’s power-to-weight ratio makes the Ferrari look like a barge.

Power: 203bhp Weight: 171kg Power to weight ratio: 1.19bhp/kg

Result will be out next Wed, 11 Nov. So who do ur think will win? :D

bike will gain the upper hand in term of 'from stop to dash'. but do not underestimate the ferrari as it much lighter than japanese sport car. with so much hps under it's belts it wouldn't be easy to outgunned it.also depend on the design of the race track which will determine who will be winner.car will gain advantage on straight course.Despite it is heavier than bike, but once the car gained it's momentum then it spell trouble for bike. and car handle turbulence better than bike.

as long as the car doesn't gain it's momentum then it is impossible to catch up with the bike ahead.fight it out with tactics, exploits the car main weakness. Then no EVOs or WRXs can ever dreamed of smoking you with their big big exhaust.

NOob here ^^ i though cars drift faster den bike power slide... if the Farrari Despo =] can drive like the videos i saw on Youtube i think farrari can win ba... the video is a competition of those normal street cars like honda civic n cars like those..

this test is gonna be done by motorcycle news (MCN) so i dont think they will just find any noob rider and driver lah.

should be quite exciting and a close fight.

exciting. There have been prototypes but im waiting for designers to release a factory hybrid car-bike super carke or Bicar :cheeky: that has 4 wheels like a car and can bank into corners like a bike. Confirm win both pure breeds.

Not to forget the weather as well...

my 2 cents...

But actually, there's lots to determine, for eg. wind speed

A teaser for you all... weather seems fine. wind speed has to judge for yourself.

Wow they are running side by side. Thats pure danger for the bike. Hmmmmmmm this case it all depends on rider. But for pro hmmmmmmmmm.....

:) Well bro. I shall say we shall not underestimate a bike as well.

He's a racing in SBK..

Since race is gonna be running on Almeria circuit(MCN seems to like to test there), thus i believe the bike would be a gd bet for a win..

anything wrong?

the chances of the car running blocking off the bike is much higher.

each vehicle wouldn't have the full usage of the track to clock a best timing.

true.. but dis is a race, not a qualifying lap so its perfectly legit to block each others lines..

my take on dis is tat a bike wld be faster on the straights but a car have the advantage during corner entry n mid corner..

but if we r tokin abt cost.. come on la.. which of us mortals can actually afford a supercar..
