Looks like a Fireblade, very nice. I hope it doesn't need a valve adjustment every 5,000km. Anyone has knowledge of Ducatis?

Holy moly! That bike is SEXY! :lovestruck: 160 hp and 381 lbs for base model are specs that rival the latest Jap superbikes, although there is an extra 99cc. I am pretty sure the S and the R homologation models will make even more power and have more trick parts. The Italian factory is becoming more and more competitive in the marketplace just like how it's doing in MotoGP. This is definitely good news!

$40k to $70k... :deal: I can barely afford a Jap literbike. I think I will only think about Ducati after I have a car.

yup, i agree. but the agent also play a big part too. if u look at the price of a beemer in Europe, the jap superbikes are almost on par in terms of price with beemers in Europe. wheras in Sg, it's a branding thing and the price r way too ex. that's y i doubt i'll ever buy a european bike. simply too ex.... maybe can consider if i strike toto :cheeky:

Actually guys, i don't know how Minerva will mark up these bikes, but Ducati is aiming for more competitive pricing with this new range.

They are giving figures of $14,995 for the base model in the US. The 999 base model sells for $18k in the US. In comparison the '07 R1 is going to retail for $11k+ over there. I think the base 1098 is going to go for current 749 pricing, which is in the low to mid 30s IF minerva follows the pricing trend.

And more info from : http://www.onewheeldrive.net/index.php?opt...&id=590&Itemid=

quote:

Cupertino, CA (November 8, 2006) - Ducati North America announces the international launch and North American pricing for the new 1098 Superbike. This incredible new machine produces 160hp and 90.4lbs/ft of torque, which results in making the 1098 the most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle in the world, with the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any sport bike. In addition, the 1098 is also the lightest open class Superbike available, weighing 381 pounds.

The priority in every step of the 1098 development has been performance first. Every system, every detail and every component has been studied and pared down to its essence in order to increase performance to the maximum. If it didn’t make the 1098 lighter, faster or deliver quicker lap times, it wasn’t considered.

The 1098 will be available in three versions starting in February. The 1098 Biposto will carry a manufacturers suggested retail price of $14,995. The 1098 S will be priced at $19,995, while the limited edition 1098 S Tri-Colore will be $24,995. The 1098 S Tri-Colore will feature a evocative red, white and green racing livery and a Termignoni performance exhaust system, among other performance enhancements.

Prices in Canada will be $19,995 for standard version, while the 1098 S will be $24,995 and the Tri-Colore will be $29,995.

“We are very pleased to announce not only a radical new Superbike family, but also a brand new competitive pricing structure. We have worked very long and hard to make this happen, and we are excited to introduce this motorcycle to the American public at the Seattle round of the International Motorcycle Shows, which happens December 1-3,” said Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America.

Jesus that torque.

Those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing.

if u refer to the post above saying about the 130% tax, u'll know why the price of cars here is ranked among one of the highest in the world. i wonder hw much it will cost if they are to bring a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 here. it's current the most expensive production street legal car in the world but not so sure if it's legal here :cheeky:

If the car is not being priced so high.. no matter how many expressway and car parks they build, there won't be enough.. look at the number of cars around even when it is so expensive..

Good news. Perhaps it's time to go Italian. Where's the 2 seater?

50% less maintenance cost on every 2007 Ducati

We are proud to announce that all 2007 Ducati models require less frequent service, less parts and labour during each service and, as a result, greatly reduced scheduled maintenance costs – by as much as 50%.

Reducing the cost of service when you visit your Ducati dealer for maintenance is one way to measure the new quality of Ducati. It also contributes immensely to making the Ducati ownership experience as satisfying as the Ducati riding experience.

Research and development is the number one investment at the Ducati factory. This investment in performance and quality includes our factory processes, machinery and the people who build each Ducati. By ‘engineering-in’ quality through design, materials and testing, every Ducati owner will enjoy significant and quantifiable improvements in every Ducati motorcycle.

To a rider, the best measure of quality is by the riding experience. You can feel a new smoothness to the legendary Ducati L-Twin, a more progressive nature to the powerful brakes and more confident road holding in every turn. Reliability and quality – one ride is all the proof you will need.

50% less – 100% Ducati – standard equipment in every 2007 model.
