Hi bros,

 

Yesterday, Sunday, 13th May. Rode in to TM with my Sonic 125 to mark routes for Newbies Trail Sections / Enduro Trail Sections & Dakar Rally Sections.

 

I went in with a SuperT guy named, not sure is he in here or not.

 

I brought himalong the whole 10+KM of Dakar Rally Friendly Terrain.

 

FYI, there are some areas which aare not Dakar Friendly such as Quick Mud & Clay Muddy areas.

 

I plan to organise a mass Dakar Rally ride someday to come. Previously, I've orgganised for Super Motard dirt riders...

I have collected my Tenere from Looi's this morning.

From an hour of riding experience, it seems that the bike has a moderate handlebar vibration at 4k rpm.

Was wondering if this is normal? Due to running in? or engine characteristic?

What bike were u riding b4 the tenere?

 

The S10 is a parallel twin engine, and thus it definitely wun be smooth like inline4 or v4 engines. Plus, new engine tend to be alot rougher. Engine will loosen up ard 10-15k mileage.

 

At that point of time, although vibration still can b felt, its a tolerable type imo, due to the frequency being lower, unlike the buzzing for inline4.

 

The bike will haf a flat spot from 4500k rpm to 5k, thats very irritating too.

 

In gear 1 to 3, the low rpm r restricted by ecu, so more vibe too.

 

Things will getting better as the engine run in. Please follow ur svc manual for proper running in. U shld not b exceeding 3900 rpm for now...

well, you will get used to it soon..

 

there are various ways to reduce vibes.. also many things/ways that you would induce vibes..

My successful formula for reducing vibes n improving ergonomics:

1) Change to WRP handlebar for more backward sweep.

2) Vibranator handlebar damper. Can only work with straight through aftermarket handlebars

3) barkbuster barends with barkbuster handguards

4) reflash ECU

 

Tried riding in flat spots rpm range today, very nice liao... But my spark plugs gotta b changed soon...

I removed the few hundred balls because I wanted to test this on its own. n now seeing how much better this is, I'm not putting the balls back in. It does create some rattling sound.

Akra endcan alone, so-so, slightly bassier than stock..

 

Akra endcan + Arrow Header = nice bassy tone with smooth delivery of power!!

I have got my HL S10 from Loois.

Does this HL 2 servicing for 12month warranty still valid for my bike since I did not get it directly with them?

 

 

depend on your term of sales. the two service provide by HL is 1000km & 3000km. ONLY Labour is FREE. EO & filter is chargable.

 

if u fail to return for the two service then the warranty is 6mth or 6000km. if u went back then it 12mth or 12000km.

 

book ur svc slot fast. i book mine when i collect bike and it 5weekend away for earliest SAT slot.

 

1st svc - shaft oil will be change as well. do ask HL to grease the rear shaft and bearing(chargable) as advice by a mech from else where.

 

The S10 engine will loose up when the more u ride.

It depend if ur S10 is agant(HL) or P.I unit.

 

The easy way to check if it HL is the HL silver sticker at the shift end.

 

Loois high chance is parallel import unit w/o factory warranty.

Since it a HL bike,there should be a red color booklet 'warranty' which has the term & condition stated inside.

 

If you do not have the booklet,pls look for your bikeshop to get one.

 

As there is the 2 free labour coupon & 2 stamp space inside the booklet .

 

You do need the booklet to claim warranty.

 

The plus point is: The S10 is built strong.so far not much major claim happen that is known even for some hardcore offroad rider.

 

So it subjective on whether u want that extended warranty anot.

 

My warranty have expire & I had no claim for the past 12mth of owning it.The S10 had bring me to MY-TH-LAO-VN.i like it.haha

The LHS crackcase seems like a magnet area for trapping sand, anyone knows if there are any accessories to cover it up?
