That hole is not a screw hole. If coolant is leaking from that hole, it's not your head gasket already. It's your engine block.. The most serious problem affecting Ver S users. You didn't check the bike before buying it over? Any warranty offered by the shop, or was it from a private seller?

I did check the bike actually.

This problem is intermittent. If I top up the coolant to the max, it leaks out from that hole. Give it a few days and then it's dry. I'm not sure if it's just the coolant level, or if its a serious problem.

I'm familiar with the bike shop, so no problem there. They initially thought it was the water pump, and replaced that for free, but the problem happened again. Then they redid the block, head gaskets, etc for free as well, but it's still happening. I can go back to them as many times as I want to get it fixed, but I'd prefer some outside opinion from people in this forum with sound technical knowledge of their bikes.

And yes, it only leaks AFTER I ride the bike.

Does this give you more information?

Thanks for the advice though!

You see, the block has a water jacket surrounding it to cool the engine in operation. Either due to abuse or failure to maintain the coolant level (previous owner), the engine block could have overheated and cracked, resulting in coolant leaking.

Yes you can top-up the coolant each time, but it'll still leak and result in an empty reservoir every time.

If only occurs when you are riding because that is when the combined heat and pressure of operation forces coolant out of the crack.

Your mechanic was not fixing the problem of the engine block leakage. If it's a water pump problem, coolant would not circulate. Did you physically see them "re-doing" the block, or was it only by word of mouth that he told you so?

Kindly wait for Ah Pek's diagnosis on this. He's the chief here. Heheh. I could be wrong.

Like what happened to mine.

But the extend of the damage cant be compared?

Mine was considered minor leaking.

Had my seals and gaskets at block changed.

Radiator flushed and new coolant.

Bike running well again fr half a yr already.

Exactly what I thought. My guess was the water pump, because, if the coolant was not circulating, heat and pressure would build up, causing the coolant to leak out of any possible escape routes.

However, this was not the case, so the mech changed the entire gassket and seaal kit on wthe block. I was there when they did it, and I did see that the gaskets and seals were bad. This shop usually shows you what is wrong with your bike when they diagnose the problem and take it apart.

Hence, me here looking for more ideas. I'll take your advice and wait for 'Ah-Pek' to advise before deciding upon the next course of action.

Alamak! :? ..seem I missed this discussion...eat too much Sotong lately.

Anyway..after all that I read..and b4 I can zero ininto the likely cause, I suggest you have the bike park stationary and let the engine idiot hot fo about say more than 5 mins. The purpose is to get the coolant heat up, the thermostat cuts on..coolant flow and pressure builds up till it leaks. Now, you need to monitor EXACTLY where the lead is coming from..remember, bikd stationary.

Anyway..just for info, if ever its a water pump problem..normally the reservoir reserve tank won't dry up as there is no flow action, instead, your engine gets very hot, fan cuts on and your overheating red Temp warning LED would come on. Thermostat problem can caused the same too. These two problem can caused leaks through gasket only if the radiator cooling tubing and coolant path is very dirty especially corroded with scales and other harden residues...as the preesure is to great in the water jacket areas.

The other thing that we take for granted are the two chrome like tubing behind on the isd eof the engine block..there is a seal to the water jacket..once a while, give it some light oiling ("Singer" oil..your mom use it for lubricating her sweing machine..equivalent to SAE 10 or less) around that area..helps 'limble' things and takes away excess heat. That seal can cracked and leak break anytime without warning when it's harden over the years caused by heat.

Heh Marcheline..I chief ?..no lah..after give wrong advise become slave and kena whip somemore..shall remain a humble server..can hel..help..dunno, stay mum.

Err.. Which shop is that? Resale bikes interest should be between 5 to 6%. I think 8% is way too high already. Try to get your Ver S from a private seller. There are plenty in the garage sales thread.

If finance is an issue, try to get a loan from your family members?

if you are tight in your financial i guess you better think twice before buying and getting loans. life is hard don't make it harder yea =) Version S is an old bike also, even though COE renewed but still you may need some cash to touch up or repair the faulty parts. unless you gotten it from a private owner who really take good care of bike and trustworthy person who will tell you all the problem before handling over to you. What i know is also 4 to 6 percent from in house bike shop loan.

Hello Ah Pek,

Any way to re-order stock? I guess this would be a hot commodity, and I'll definitely be your customer! Any other services that you render? I just got my Ver S... :p

I got this wet spark plug problem which cause bike to go 'blob blob blob' like no power when moving off between 0 to 2k rpm. Higher than that ok oredy. The most right sparkplug(when mount on bike) that is.The rest are ok.I tot it was due to rain initialy. But normal day i wack the bike till quite hot the problem surface.Issit due to leaking of coolant pipe somewhere? Cos no more coolant in my bike, i only topup distill water. For now i just wipe dry the sparkplug n spray wd40 n try not rev really high.
