i just service my bike recently. flushed coolant but the temp light thingy still lights up after i ride.. the mechanic at unique said might be radiator problem. water pump? im not really sure what he said. he said repair everything 600+. wah piang.

Could be temp sensor gone bad.

Could be wiring problem if your coolant is not boiling in the reserve tank. If its radiator fan switch fault..the fan won't cut on b4 the temp lights comes on.

And like what cheongsteron said..could be thermostat faulty (stuck)..but if fan cuts on..your radiator sensor switch is ok.

What coolant has been used and what's the ratio and was tap water used?

Your question is not stupid..I was like you many teays ago when I started riding bikes.

Generally, the manual say 3k to 5K or 3 months which ever come first etc..but these however is just a reference and can't be speak off as true for eo. For example..if you are using the bike for a few days a week or travel very short distances daily...it just doesn't make sense. The only way is to take the reference as mentioned and have "body english" and feel of your bike performance and roughness from your engine.

Same for spark plug..no rules or fixed period. When you ride hard..it wear off faster at the core and gentle riding style makes the plug last very much longer. BEst is to ride till your bike kind of jerk or under power and feel for the same heat at the exhaust header. If one feel cooler than the rest or having mix temperature range..time to have them change.

Eo filter change whenever possible unless you have really good eo and a magnet on the oil filter.

Thanks Thanks!!! I will take note.. Will PM / SMS you again when I need a APEO :) :p

Nothing to worry about or any need to go to the workshop...its normal and a common thing of the S4 engine. Its just the sound of the "shim" under the cam follwer. It will go away after awhile and sometime takes as long as a week or more. But do monitor..if this goes on for months and get louder..time to have the defective one replaced.

All bike got timing chain..those that don't have are using "cam gear"..like Honda VFR I think.

Thank you for the prompt reply Pek.

Just to add on, the sound normally can be heard when my bike is cold.

After warm up, it start to fade off.

So ideally it should go away else i will need to proceed to the mototiam and ask them to replace the shim liao.

Btw, how do i know that i need to tighten my timing chain? Any symptoms to monitor???

Heloo to all the non-vteczz... I will like to ask bout tires.

I am going to change my PB1 tire in 1-2moths time depending on the tire.:cheeky:

Which brand n model is gud in terms of price n performance.

I am current using bridgestone bt39 110/70, 150/70.

Lastly, has anyone use the height 60 rather than 70?

Thanks lotz with any advice.

Changing shim is a very expensive process..no fun thing..at least $200+!

There is no way to tighten the timing chain..it need to be replace. It sound very loud with a klacking sound when engine runs...oso expensive for work labor.:sian:

The difference is that mine is not "point" grounding as they call theirs.

"since hw fella forumers describe yr ' god-like' EO n grounding..."

I have been following threads related to ppl commenting on the goodness of the use of my eo and grounding but never heard or them or any one saying " god-like' EO n grounding"..where you heard or read that from or iszit your own words? Mine is just fully sync eo and blended with stuff that works well for our bikes.

" I check out the grounding thread but still not too sure.. "

You check only what but never read..how to be sure?...ha....x3!

Not too sure about what?

IC,

so can i say, if the sound will fade off is likely the shim problem while if the sound is constantly there will be my timing chain problem?

Heal my advise..for non Vtec..use Dunlope GT501 (sports touring) Arrow Max (original for PB1)..last you close to 2 yrs. I tried a few others but now still back on GT501 and don't take 150/70 for behind..stay with 140.

Fwah, what kind of example this infernalwar is showing?

If i am you Ah Pek, i'd find out where he stay, where does he normally parks his bike and gives him a 1 x good one to his bike.

If he is short of cash, at least he should explains his situation to you instead of running away from it.

Regards,

kifakw

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.
