Actually bike's COE not as bad as cars so buying a new bike or a second hand one still depends on your personal budget and how you can pay off the bike per month. I have been riding my super 4 verS for nearly 3 years now and have been constantly fixing broken parts as i've seen it as a cheaper way then buying a new bike . Maybe in 2 years time when i get promoted from my current job then may consider buying a new bike or get a 2nd hand class 2.

Haha yupz actually i do..

 

1. Forgot to turn my petrol knob to reserve as i was looking for a petrol station

2. The mech turn my petrol off as they were doing maintence.

3. I accidently off my engine when playing around with the knobs at a traffic light and cannot start due to low battery.

 

The price of a new super four is almost equavilant to XJ6 and its quite high for a class 2A. But it's a very good bike with the low maintence. You have to understand mine is a 15 year old bike so have quite a number of problems..

OhhHh... There's a glitch? no wonder, i always thought that i didn't clutch-in in time then the bike stall.. It happened like 5 ~ 6 times between the 3 years i've been riding the bike...

 

Yah..just like ur PC sometime hang without know reasons...ha....x3! Sometimes when u are low on fuel and not yet at reserve..travelling up a slow or down and stopping..can happen oso. The other thing is that sometime partial clogging in carbs jetting or partial electrical multfunction can cause such glitches oso. Just know that as long as its does not happened too ofetn its ok.

hmm i see, really? xj6 class2 bike right? thinking of getting super4 or xj6 but dont know which one is better. or continues ride my current vers. my bike is when i waiting for traffic the bike just die off and im at the middle of the road zzz. when i just collect my bike is already happen, went back workshop they say nothing wrong with the bike... after few month it happen again and went back they say nothing wrong and currently this happen again

hmm i see i see i think i need to find the fault, mine happen quite often i think, ( morning going off it happen and going home it happen, ytd also ) within 1 year every month i got this problem when i go back workshop they say nothing wrong... they say i long time never ride and engine too cold, giving me full of question mark as i ride quite often. funny thing is when i went workshop the problem solve automatically for quite awhile and it happen again... but today is the worth case when i throttle the bike dont really move and on, off, on, off movement at slow speed i tot my engine gone case scare me but manage to get home in the end...

For ur case..it could be partially clogged fuel jetting or needles too worn out or spark plug gap too wide liao. Go the cheaper way to resolve first. Go get any fuel jet cleanser (add into petrol tank) and try out first. Do not go open ur carbs for servicing but if you want to..use the hose injectory cleaning method..cheaper and faster.

 

Also check and make sure your air filter is clean and not badly clogged. Just take it out and tab a few time to clear of grits or any blocking dry residues leves, insect..whatever.

 

Important too...check ur fuel hose that its not kink due to displacement..your "choke" level is full out and cable not partially jammed. Also make sure ur idling is not too low..best at 1.3-1.5k rpm.

 

Lastly and need to...if ur spark plug has not been changed for oo long..u may wanna do that.

Not sure where u are staying but at NTUC Hub (AMK Ave 3..near MRT Station)...or NTUC Festive Mall..AutoBac at Enuos or Bukit Batok or just about any HDB type or Industrialarea shop that sells car EO and spare parts You can get the STP type or the STP full cleansing system. If u can get Liquid Moly better still. There are many brand but all about the same lah.

Yupz xj6 is a class 2 bike. But if you are already riding a super4 verS then i think it's not recommended to get the xj6 cos the Horsepower around the same. But of cuz, fazer S2 is a good option but they are already out of production but there have much higher horsepower then xj6. Dunno if you are going for speed or fuel effiency.

 

Speed = fz6 S2 or fuel effiency = xj6.

 

But then, the cheaper option is still use ah pek's method to troubleshoot the bike.. everytime i have a prob i don't need to ask, just slowly read through and can solve a lot of my probs le..

i encountered similar problem... before my bike stalled in expressway, there was a sudden lose of power, sound changed to majiam v twin or riding wif punctured tyre sound... full throttle also same speed.. after 5min ride, it stalled.. no matter how i throttle and start it wont.. 5mins later i start the bike , it runs but same no power.. speed v slow.. then ride out of expressway call tow.. tow to racewerks, check SP, SP gd, air filter stil kinda of clean... so mech say might be insuffient fuel entering tts y bike died off.. then he take out the fuel filter in the filter then and blow blow.. put back.. don know y the mech suspect things related to coolent, asking if the fan works...

 

checked fan working then close case, bike run like normal.. he onli say might be tank rusty, so the rust clotted resulting insufficient fuel.. advise to pump fuel b4 reserve tank..

I suggest you get a 2nd opinion before proceeding cos all the things you mentioned doesn't come cheap. Go to a few bike shops which specializes in super four and ask around for what may be the problem.

I suggest you get a 2nd opinion before proceeding cos all the things you mentioned doesn't come cheap. Go to a few bike shops which specializes in super four and ask around for what may be the problem.

anyway its done bro.. they charged me some labour fee i think is due to the troubleshooting.. i jus changed my sp and wash air filter plus tow.. kinda exp nearly a hundred... cos all the while i go racewerk, they nv chu stun, like trying to ask me change this and that.. so mayb the other having similar prob is also rust tank? initially i wanna tow to unique, but racewerk tower fastest, so i choose racewerk. lol

Base on ur description..there is nothing done actually and I can think of is that if u had taken out ur tank before and replaced the breather tube such that it gotten kink..this is the problem u get..there is no flow to the fuel tube to ur carbs. If this ever happen again..next time open ur tank cap immediately and see if u hear a "hissing" sound (release of pressure entering the tank cap..u know than ur breather tube under the tank is too sharply bended...so no breathing for fuel to release thru the tank fuel kock. Taank rust?..don't thik so bro..if got, ur carbs need to open up liao.

He's right about better to pump b4 hitting reserve as the flow takes over can be very slow and bike becomes very sluggish especially if u happens to be on a slope either up or down due to the tank at an angle. But as pumping at 230 km..its kinda 'too early' lah..290 0r 300km depending on how much normally u would hit reserve should be ok. For me..once I'm close and felt little jerks..I switch ove rto reserve liao if its a non Vtec.

 

The breather tube is attached under the fuel tank. There is a larger one too and that's the over flow tube. Its better to remove the smaller one (breather) and normally the sharp bend is caused by when the tube is not starighten and putting back the tank bends it. The other caused are those ppl who have installed "Scottoiler". As the suction pressure is karpoe from the vaccum tube..it affects the suction of the on/off release of the fuel kock diaphgram that releases petrol to the carbs via the fuel tube from the fuel kock. Take note that the vaccum tube cannot be too long when relacing a new one..the inner diameter and lenth is "designed" for the rate of velocity and suction for the fuel kock diaphgram. Lower end peformance is not affected but at high end rpm..yes.

 

To resolve the tubing problem..just lift up the thank and make sure the breather tube is straighten that's all..better still..don't attached it (*no harm).

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Actually it's quite true.. Cos there's only a difference of only 3 ~ 4k and you can get a higher CC bike as compared to a new super four..

Hi Guys,

 

I am new here.. Used to ride Spec 1 in 2000 for a year and stop riding since.

 

Now i am looking to get cb400 again. Looking at the market , i see there are quite a number of older version outside. I am interested in one of the PB1 (Reg 1998) advertised. Before i make my offer .

 

The only that i only about PB1 is

 

1) Oldest in the family.

2) Straight exhaust pipe

3) no power cut

4) heavier

 

Can any guru let me know what's the diff between Version S and PB1 ?
