Hi!

My boyfriend owns an FJR and he keeps talking about whether he should change to a Hayabusa.. Right now I'm in the US for my studies and to surprise him for our anniversary, I'm trying to arrange for a 'bike exchange' session where he can try out a Hayabusa. If there's any one in this forum who wouldn't mind doing a little 'bike exchange' for a few hours? You could try out his FJR, or my little Vespa LX150 haha.. Just PM me if you might be interested.. thanks!!!

Tilt:):)

Its kinda risky to do that. Now with lots of unmarked police vehical otr. Few hours? Wanna ride around singapore?

For GPS mount, I made one myself cause I couldn't bear paying so much for a ram mount. Like this,

and couple with a ebay purchased GPS holder, click me, and I got myself a GPS mount for less than $20.

how you make one? make threads on the metal rod and screw it in or you just slot it in?

No need to be confused. Gen2 only one version and using 4pot. Gen1 stock is 6pot.

I attached a rubber spacer at the bottom. When I tighten the screw on the top, the rubber will expand and clamped against the inner circumference of the steering tube. I think it how RAM mount works as well. If I got time, I will take a photo of it alone.

Do you have access to a lathe and drilling/milling machine? If you have, then it is possible. I can then show you the step. Sorry I didn't mentioned the machines used in the first post.

Not at the moment, will need to borrow the usage from my friend bike shop.I need to find out, cant remember he have or not.But he have the machine to make sliders.

But tested and proven vibration proof?

Guys do you know any reliable workshop that service Hayabusa gen 2?

Usually for engine service, i service my bike at tachyon or ah lai. Tyres would be hkl or if i want to do the bike quick. Unique or hl cycle for engine oil, spark plug replacement.

The machine used to make slider are lathe machine. It is actually enough. If you don't have Milling/drilling machine, then you have to forsake some steps but it is still possible.

Frankly speaking, I don't use GPS much. So I seldom use my mounting hence I don't want to spend too much money on a ram mount. The furtest I tested it is around 100km+ of flat road. So not much vibration at all. Otherwise I am unable to comment much. I'll post a write up on how to make the mount in a while.

Posted

Ok, I thought of doing this write up for those who might be interested to fabricate the GPS mount yourselves. But do take note, this is just a bar mount. You still have to purchase a cheap China made GPS mount in EBAY to complete it.

There are a total 4 items,

1) Bar beam using Dia 19mm alu rod

2) Support stem using Dia 19mm alu rod

3) Rubber expander. I got this from my original DRZ axle sider. The dimension is dia.13mm x 14mm. It has an 5mm hole in the center also.

4) A cap screw of M5x65mm and a M5 nut

I have snap a photo of the actual part with it respective drawing with dimension. I will label some dimension with numbering to explain the process needed.

First of all the Bar beam,

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u311/mark13x/C360_2011-10-1715-22-59.jpg

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u311/mark13x/C360_2011-10-1714-20-58.jpg

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u311/mark13x/C360_2011-10-1714-21-18.jpg

No. 1 - Use a M8.5 drill bit to drill a depth of 6mm

No. 2 - Use a M5 drill bit to drill through

No. 3 - Use a M12 drill bit or mill bit to drill this hole

No. 4 - For this step, you have to mill it

Secondly for the Support stem,

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u311/mark13x/C360_2011-10-1715-29-56.jpg

No. 1,2,3 - Can be done by using lathe machine

Lastly, you can start assembling all the parts and will look like this,

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u311/mark13x/C360_2011-10-1708-30-33.jpg

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u311/mark13x/C360_2011-10-1708-29-41.jpg

I hope this not confusing as I am not really good with words. I hope this will help.
