Good Saturday morning peeps!

To start off the day, I'll like to understand more on the clutch plates & springs upgrades. Wonder if anyone here did the upgrades before?

I was thinking of shipping in some aftermarket clutch plates to replace my existing clutch stock plates. Reason for this is that since I wanna start riding / touring / going for track sessions, it's better to get the plates replaced so that the chances of slippage may be reduced. Furthermore my bike is 6 years old, I would presume that it's also high time that the parts be replaced. So question here is, have anyone tried brands of plates like EBC, Barnett, Track Pac etc? Or rather, what's your view on aftermarket replacement or even, should I even change the plates now (bike mileage 32500km)

Also, since I'm already intending to replace the clutch plates, perhaps I would also change the springs to the aftermarket heavy duty springs. Would like to know other that increased clutch spring pressure when engaging & disengaging the clutch lever, what else should I expect from these heavy duty springs?

Anyone of you here know of or are yourself slipper clutch upgraders on a Gen 1 busa? Understand that it's super costly but a great component to have on a Gen 1 bike (Gen 2 comes with slipper clutch). Anywhere that I can go to see & understand more about slipper clutch?

Hope this does not bore u on a lovely Saturday.

If I can buy direct from owner, it's would be a privilege. Why? At least you know who the ex owner is in case you need to know more about the bike in terms of parts they've changed or upgraded and or when did they the change.

Ex owners themselves would probably be more willing to share with you about their bikes' characteristics and if there are any shortcomings, they would be able to share / recommend the next course of action to ratify the shortcomings thereby saving you heaps of time scouting & sourcing for the right mechanic to get your problems fixed.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Good afternoon on a hot and sunny afternoon.

A great time to blast the streets lol.

Stock clutch fibres and metal plates,if not abuse can last quite long.I am more practical, dont see the need to change unless needed to.

You just need to spend less than $20 from KS to for the clutch cover gasket,to visually check. That's the best method.

I upgraded the springs, had thought before of upgrading to Trac king performance clutch pack recommended by APE.

You may regret after changing the springs, some recommended to replace 4 of the exisiting stock, some said all 6 of them.

Clutch springs are inexpensive, not really recommended for touring especially when caught in a horrible traffic jam hee hee.

You will expect cramps starting from your fingers, left hand and towards your forearm lol.

I had only been using stock clutch pack, newbie not enough knowledge so no choice.

Gen 1 stock is using slipper clutch,so i dont get your meaning of slippage.

I know of aftermarket slipper clutch from MTC and >http://www.slipperclutch.com/EN/road.html

1 of the tell tale sign of wear and tear of clutch plates, loss the surge of acceleration.

The results from mine, you can see rainbow colour stripes under the light for the clutch plated lol.

Nah since i got the time,i am more than happy to share, but coffee on you if we ever meet lol:P

Please dont quote me,i maybe wrong as i am a still at the beginner's stage.

Now with technology, google it for more desired information

Provided that seller is honest and trustworthy.Just to share with everyone, trying not to let history repeat itself on other riders in any ways possible.

Hey bro thanks so much for the responses man! Totally appreciate your inputs.

I'm very much a person who is into practicality too however due to my lack of technical knowledge, I tend to be swayed to purchase something I don't really need. But, my intention is always to make my ride better as well as to upkeep it so that in future, I don't have to spend tonnes of £ $ € or ¥ to maintain the worthiness of the engine.

Your suggestion on the $20ish clutch cover gasket, thats probably the most practical installation to check on the serviceability of the clutch plates. I'll get those done. This suggestion may save me a couple of hundred buck! Thanks!!

Bro, what made u upgrade those springs? I read abt Trac King performance clutch pack too. Didn't wanna make any purchase unless I'm sure the benefits that come along with the change is worth it.

Ahhhhh.. So by changing to heavy duty springs engaging and disengaging / half clutch will be a challenge that's what you're saying.

Bro, I'm the real newbie. See, I don't even know that Gen 1 busa uses slipper clutch :cheeky:

Coffee, tea, milk, me on me no problem. Oops did I say me? :cheeky:

There's just so much to learn about the hayabusa. My main priority now is to sup up my ride so that it is tour / track ready.

If you have any other suggestions on what I should upgrade on my bike for practicality purpose, I'd love to hear them.

For me now, I've just got my front & rear springs upgraded, brake master pump upgraded, brake pads replaced. I'm now thinking of getting my rearsets upgraded too. So far I haven't touched on the engine maintenance portion which I'll be very interested to know what is needed.

My project to sup up my ride has commenced.

rearsets are a waste. usually the pegs will get loose. usually the foot brake signals will fail too.

I totally agree that it's also based on the honesty of the seller. Guess I recalled you / someone mentioning about your experience previously like back in year 2005/06.

Anyway, thanks for all the inputs really hope to see u guys for coffee soon.

Yup bro I read about this. Gotta get something to go along with the rear set so that the rear signal can work. I'm thinking of the change because I'm prepping the bike for track. Given our original foot pegs, it's not gonna be ideal.

The good thing is that with a fully adjustable rear set, I'll be able to get a better overall riding position ain't that right?

In short, slipper clutch is put in place to ensure that the wheels don't lock up when you aggressively kick down the gears. This is especially apparent during track when you'll have to enter into a corner right after a long straight at high speed.

I'm really not sure whether you can engage the gear without depressing the clutch.

I seriously doubt so,unless you are using quick shifter either from power commander or star performance.

Or you rev at high rpms, close throttle quickly and engage gear immediately without clutching in.But TAKE NOTE DO NOT MISS.

You got to bear the full consequences to that though lol

wah carbon fiber accessories . . . .

should buy that if u wanna loose some weights for track.

little advantage when it come to touring.

sadly hayabusa resale market is low that it makes ppl think twice before pimp their ride with expensive accessories.

im a budjet guy, see my ride and its accessories im sure the ave joe could afford it wahahaha!

Bro, any other CF parts available? I've just acquired CF dash boards & front mud guard. Maybe looking for a rear CF hugger & if possible a CF under tray or other CF parts.

Also, can u pm me the quote for the hump?
