]Roger{, floppy: Yep, I do understand that a 5th gen VFR comes with CBS. However, mine is equipped with ABS too. There's the ABS sytem installed at front and rear. =) Thanks anyway.

vfrT: Thanks for the tips. I'll try them out. =)

Oh, Re my tip#3." Run some injector additives to fuel to clean up the injectors". Note This precautionary warning taken off Honda's Factory Manual: DO NOT apply commercially available carburettor cleaner into the throttle bore as it will damage the molybdenum coating in the bore."

Need some advice bros...

My bike has 20,000km on the clock, and 2 yrs old.

Got squeaking sound coming from the rear wheel when on the move (slow riding, can hear quite loud)... i oil my chain regularly, so shouldn't be that.

Any idea what it is? bearings in the wheel or...???

Serious enough to get it to the workshop, u guys think?

Thanks.

I had ticking sound from the rear wheel also when moving off on cold since I bought mine, check with bike shop mech he said it was properly due to clutch housing but he said it is ok as long as the clutch is working but if the sound can be hear also after a long ride then is time to service liao.

Finger cross then :sian:

If its a continous high pitched squealing while moving, chances is its coming from your brakes. Some brakes has a thin metal tong that rubs against the rotor to produce that squeal to tell you that yr pads are worn. However, if its intermittent squeaks, it could mean that your brake pistons are not retracting fully and is in contact with the rotor thus producing the squeaks. To confirm, touch yr pad after a ride to see if its very hot; if yes touche. Static test by spinning the rear wheel on the rear stand will tell if its binding too. If these test is positive, you need to service the calipers to free the binding.

from wiki:

"The sixth generation VFR (for the first time marketed only as the "Interceptor" in the USA) was introduced in 2002. For the first time it featured dual underseat exhausts, an optional anti-lock braking system (ABS) in addition to the DCBS, and optional hard luggage."

abs debuted on the 6th gen vfr (it was a 'big' thing then).

i love to be proven wrong, but yours could be the only 5th gen vfr with abs. i've not seen anything on the parts fiche nor read anywhere to suggest that there's a 5th gen vfr with abs. like ]Roger{, i suspect you may mistaken the cbs for abs. anyway, why not just post up a pic of the front/rear brakes and show. that would settle the discussion once and for all.

i strongly agree with Floppy.

just post your bike brake foto cum with the linkage.

if its true than your bike will be truly world's 1 and only 5th gen Cum ABS

Here's me tossing my hat into this proof-us-wrong thingy:slapforehead: I guess you guys are jus very curious cats (in a light hearted manner). It is very possible that the previous owner did some retrofitting to his bike much the same way as Throttlestop's FrankenViffer which has upside town forks from an SP1 +++ - see this http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=52605&d=1203292755.

My toss is, I would jus take his word at it after all he did acknowledge that apart from CBS, his has the ABS. cheers:cheers:

Thanks, it's more like an intermittent squealing sound when the wheels are rolling. Both hot and cold also can hear the sound.

You may be right about the pistons. I just got my brake pads changed, and maybe they didn't do the job properly. The sound is intermittent squealing, and same when i put it on mainstand and rotate the rear wheel. Looks like going to waste more time at the workshop again. Thanks for your advice.

Oh, if you just got yr pads changed, then let it bed in first and the squeals will disappear. Depending on the type of pad, it may take between about 100 to 200 km of use to disappear. Shorter distance if you use organic pads and longer if sintered metal.

Was wondering is there a chart to show the max of each gear change? Not normal riding by when throttling from start gear one to six gear.

Someone asking me whom is interested in the VFR.

Actually I find that there are more and more people getting a VFR.

Don't understand. You can change gear at redline. Or even beyond redline if you're willing...

140 km/h reach in 2nd gear at 11000 rpm. A previous owner got 190 km/h by over rev...

There is q quick and safe way to find out. Put bike on center stand. Start engine. Click into gear. drop clutch. Drive thru the gears and note yr speedo. Actually I've done that and posted the readout some years ago somewhere in these threads. But its easier to do it than to search. But its theorectical speed with no wind resisitance.

Seriously, can it be done???

So far, I've only revved to slightly above 9000 RPM when I'm doing some aggressive or ghostriding and usually will hit 100+km/h at gear 3...

Anyway, I've hit 222 km/h at GP NSH towards Taman Perling without red-lining any of the gears. I definitely need a taller windscreen...!!

Well i try changing gear at redline in all gear except 1st gear.. but i hit around or slight above 9000rpm in 1st gear. VFR is able to take such pressure . so no worry

I will not want to regret in my life when i look back when i am old man.

Bro, I bought my VFR new at 21K OTR from De Xing. But I'm a 34 yr old geezer so my insurance cheaper.

2nd hand VFRs are not exactly cheap cos there is holding value in VFR or most Honda bikes cos the engine's bulletproof and the build quality is excellent.

Anyway, you can expect 15-17 km/l or about 340-360 km of tank range.

2-3 weeks ago, one of my VFR box was forced open at block 692A Jurong West. (opposite jurong point).

As the other box was blocked by the wall, the thief left it alone. However I suspect they tried to push out the bottom pins in order to open it but was not successful.

Well they did not take anything (a MHR half face helmet and jacket were inside) after breaking open the box.

Bike was covered and park opposite the blocks of flat but apparently the thief was not deterred.

Please be careful while parking at the area as mentioned above.
