I got like, queries and i need experienced people's opinions.

I currently taking lessons, so i trying to set up a savings plans for a bike.

But after searching around and talking to my other bike friends, i abit stuck.

My first dream choice was KRR 150. It has the power to bring me around .

I actually loved RXZ but i am big sized/heavy.So one of my biker friends told me don't really have that much torque to bring me around singapore esp if i got pillon.

Then he bought a KRR and showed me. It had what i wanted. So now's the problem.

I really want a KRR. The price i can chiong for it. However, my torso/legs are long. So i scared if i ride krr my legs will be like, cramped up whenever i change gear or even just normal riding.

Then my friend intro me phantom TA200. Not much high speed but at least got power to bring me and a pillon around. Good sitting posture for me also.

Then i found out TA200 very prone to fishtailing and during the rain damn dangerous. I machiam got slight phobia of rain riding ( last time bicycle ALWAYS skid )

Then my friend intro me to a scrambler. XR2 .

So now i stuck. How?

My dream is KRR. But i scared got discomfort( still dunno yet).

Phantom comfy, but danger in rain.

Scrambler , Low high speed/abit harder to clutch control for beginner.

I'm up for any other types but because of my weight problems i have to stick with high powered bikes for now. Tahaning till my 2A...

Any advice/opinions?

Thanks.

How tall/heavy are you? I'm 1.8m & 80kg. The phantom is borderline on being too cramped for me. On stock settings, it doesn't feel as comfortable as I thought it would be in the rider seat. Depending on how you ride, all bikes could be dangerous, rain or not.

For tall people, scrams seem to be quite ideal. With regards to the low high speed, I don't know what speeds you would regard as low but I think you should not have much problem going at highway speeds with all modern day motorcycles. Harder to clutch control? I think this is a matter of technique.

Last but not least, one should ride a 2b bike like a 2b bike. Too slow? Then stick to the 2nd or 3rd lane. I seen too many triangle boy racers trying to do too many stupid things.

Cheers and enjoy riding.

My advice is try to look at more modern bikes. Phantom is dinosaur technology and "standard issue" examples definitely have the potential for questionable handling and performance. The only reason why I specially bought one is because I had access to one that was being rebuilt completely and can make various DIY improvements to handling and performance.

I'm confident designs such as the Yamaha R15, FZ150i, Pulsar and others can give you a blend of comfort, economy and performance that older designs can't. In terms of speed and handling a modern 125cc high compression V Twin with monoshock suspension can tackle the 99 Bends much faster and with totally no effort, compared to a ten year old design having twice the engine capacity but has to specially use racing lines and radical maneuvers to keep up.

While KRR has greater horsepower that's not really a good choice for comfort (esp for pillion) and safety. You'd be tempted to go for "top speed contests" and eventually have an "incident". Sportsbikes and agility require experience to fully appreciate, without pushing the risk envelope.

As far as the issue of ride height - I'm 6 ft 5 and absolutely can't stand the idea of riding a scrambler. Tall to me = hunkering forward (yes, even on Phantom) and super-low suspension, in the interests of aero efficiency.

I'm about the same height, but i am heavier. I don't wanna tell you how much. But i tried sp, kr, phantom. I feel like a frog on a damn bicycle. RXZ is actually not that bad, it feels kinda comfy, but my YBR is much more comfy. Taller, more buttspace, but slow as hell. Only can go 110km/h max. And i dont think the rxz is underpowered or doesnt have torque. I think can sure move you one. Last time NS got this one guy super big size and his green RXZ got sotong tayar. He still can go up the basement carpark ramp so steep with ease, with me on it. More than 180KG on his bike sia. Haha.

Giant sia. And how did you change your nick from KAI LAN? Haha.

if u like krr, go for it.

I'm 1.78 and i used to ride sp.

My knees touch the fairing, and my leg feel like its all over the place.

But after changing to racing footrest, it settle the problem and give a more solid feel.

Totally worth the money.

Kr is more comfortable for distance riding.

A proper mantained rxz is powerful enough for 1st lane expresway.

But i not comfortable with the handling.

I more familiar with sportbike and cub handling.

Why do you want to "tackle the 99 Bends" fast at all? Leave all the racing antics to the track. Be considerate to other road users.

Class 2B 125-150cc 4S - max horsepower 10-15. 200cc? Not much more due to dated SOHC 2V

We are flattered you think of our humble 2B outings as "racing" when we struggle to reach highway speeds (100kph indicated = 80kph on car meter) :D

why limit yourself to these bikes. There are other bikes that a bigger sized fellow can ride. The derbi 125, varadero 125 are bike that are bigger in stature though its more expensive.

Woah. Thanks for the great advice and info.

And yea, for what i meant when i said high speed was 120 with pillon ( around 200 kg? cause just in case both me and my friend big sized. lol. ) because i'm not a speed freak but i'm a dont-want-to-kanna-bump-because-i-too-slow-for-expressway-and-car-drivers-get-irritated freak.

Cause i've seen with my eyes dunno how many times slow riders(usually uncles) get into near accident situations because they go slower then the cars. So i want to be at least the same speed or maybe faster then the average car (nissan sunny).

Actually i'm very interested in the rxz but i'm afraid of looking like a elephant on a bicycle, same goes for the krr . Lol.

Dun recommend bikes that are big in size onli, but has totally no power... power is more important to a big sized guy.

What makes you think that the bikes I mentioned are big but totally no power. They do have decent power if u have risen 1 with the neccesary adjustments

If power is so much of an issue for you why not go get a class 2a minimum.
