A friend is organising the following trip:

Departing from Singapore on Friday, 6 Aug, for a 3D2N escapades to the island of Perhentian. Staying at the Coral View resort, which offers seaside dining and snorkelling right at the front of the resort. Prinstine blue waters surround the island, and most importantly, the island is not crowded (unlike redang). Enjoy the stretch of fine white sandy beach. No need to jostle for the food, the queue for the buffet and the clutter and chatter of a typical marhet.

Activities on the island include Diving, Snorkelling, canoeing and jungle treking. Most importantly, lots of time to interact and make new friends. And on the way back, head for the famous stuff crab at Kemamam.

The rooms are limited and is first-come-first-serve. Prices quoted are inclusive of meals of the island, boat trips, snorkelling trip. Diving rates at flat at RM$120 for 2 boat dives and above (the cheapest around, no need to bring anything at all)....

Interested? PM me, i can forward you the roomthen forward his email.

The permutation are aplenty, it all depends on the depth of your pocket. Perhaps you can give an indication on how much you wanna spend? For Aur, I spent about $400+ in 02. There were 2 3-hour lessons on a weekday night on one week followed by 2 3-hour pool lesson the next week.

And on the same weekend of the pool lesson, we departed for Aur on Friday evening: Saturday 3 dives and Sunday morning 1 dive. After that, return to Singapore.

Need more info?

Cheers dude!

Hi buddy,

I have appended a few URLs for you to look at. Advanced diving allows you to select 'electives' unlike OWD which is a standard course. Waikiki Dive Centre is the one that sponsors Class 95 and Friendly Waters Sea Sports was the place I took my OWD. The other URLs are for you to browse and perhaps learn more about the hierarchy and structure of various diving courses. May them be of use to you. Cheers!

I was looking around for advance divers' course recently. The usual accreditation was done by PADI or SSI. But according to a friend, there's also International Associations of Nitrox and Technical Divers (IANTD). It is said to be more intensive and thus, perceivedly more comprehensive. I don't really mind whichever association I get my cert from but it has to be accepted anywhere. Any of you guys aware of this company?

Their website is: http://www.iantd.com/

imho, get 1 from the following: NAUI, PADI or SSI.

reason being they r more established and u will have less hassle when dealing with foreign dive operators (hey! they r as kiasu and kiasi as singaporeans :cheeky: )

Yea, I am feeling a bit apprehensive about IANTD as well. Pay money to learn and then not accepted, quite a waste of time man...
