I got what you mean. At least leave a note lah, or pick up the bike and pretend nothing has happened.

haha, hard to pretend nothing happened, the whole right side was scratched and my box scraped badly too, lol. i dont expect pple to be a saint and pay for damage, but after such damage, at least leave an apology note... sigh, pple.

Hi TS, do take a look at the following few situations:

1. Another rider 'borrows' ur bike to put his helmet/things on it, and accidentally scratches ur bike.

2. A careless driver reverses his car and kena ur bike, ur bike fall and was scratched jialat x2.

3. Some passerby thinks ur bike looks nice, so he sits on it and play with the switches.

4. A car was parked inconsiderately, blocking another rider from exiting his lot on his bike. Since he couldn't move the car, he shifted ur parked bike, and dropped it in the process.

All the 4 situations have one thing in common - something happens to ur parked bike when u are not around.

But my friend once told me this which i fully agree on: Things that cannot be put in ur pocket, u cannot protect it 100%.

Given the 4 situations (plus endless other possibilities), are u going to try to educate other people on everything that they shouldn't do that might damage ur bike? What i would say is, it is not going to work by complaining about it on an internet forum. Even the government keep asking people to speak mandarin, to give birth to more kids, etc. all also not working, let alone the fact that u are on ur own.

Life is not a bed of roses. Even roses have thorns. Sheet happens. If nothing has happened so far, don't be too affected by ur worries. If u got to worry like that, there are many other things u have to worry about also..... Whether bangala will steal the slippers outside ur house, whether starhub digging the ground to lay cables will affect ur internet connection, whether this will happen that will happen. Den ur life will be full of worries! That would not be very nice already.

Some things are not within ur control, and u have to live with it. It sucks but it is not the end of the world. Most important is learn to let go and develop a more carefree mindset so that u can live happier!

Not you pretend nothing has happened lah.

I mean the culprit. Seen that happens.

Think some of you might remember a super 4 rider, tried to reverse to park next to a ducati monster at Macdonalds Kallang Stadium. Super 4 fell and hit the ducati onto the hood of a car. Dented car hood.

Super 4 picked up his own bike and quickly ride away. Machiam nothing has happened!

If he had apologised, let it be. He could had F you back, if he was unreasonable or had a bad day.

A classic example for the second use of a helmet. *hint hint*

but sometimes when u encounter people whose bikes are already very run down.. they will not care much.. scratch abit here and there they do not really mind.. so if your bike is well kept.. u suffer... haha

That's why nowadays i cant be bothered about how my bike looks. Never wash for months, chain just whack some stupid chain lube etc. I still remember i parked in school. My mirrors folded in, ERP cover opened, my switches have been played, got chocolate on my mirrors (i think), my trip meter spoil then got melted after that and my tacho light bulb spoil. I think the bugger when to play play pull pull my meter unit. Wiring loose, bulbs come in contact with the plastic. At first angry, then after that, what can i do right? To think undergrads have nothing to do or are just being childish. Lucky my bike made in China so i know wanna replace this part la, that part la, is cheap. Or sell the damn bike.

But if i got monies, i would buy a big house with a big garage and keep my expensive bikes there so that no one can disturb.

Bikes are meant to be run and look war-torn and dirty. "Hangar queens" with pristine finishes don't impress me LOL

Riders are rugged people. So must have the "rugged look" haha. I always got this feeling. Clean and make the bike so nice until for what? Rain abit, gone liao, dirty again. Will only clean if wanna put on display or photo shoot. If not, dirty or clean, bike like no difference also.

Alamak! I sometimes put my stuffs at other people bikes but only when there is no place to put on my bike. Yes, sometimes I do carry alot of stuffs. Anyway it only temporary and I make sure I don't scratched or damaged the other bikes. And I will only place the stuffs on the seat and not on any painted surface. I think it is okay bah. Personally I am very careful about my own bike so I will do the same for other bikes.

I like my bike clean. That why I don't ride in the rain or after rain. I will take public transport or drive then. The only time I had to ride in the rain is when I'm already outside, riding halfway or during touring. If my bike ever got "wet", I will wash it when I reach home, especially the chain. Actually it more of getting rid of the acidic water from the rain. It carries grind and dirt from the road. Hence by cleaning, it will actually reduce the possible corrosion process. It has become a habit to me. Maybe I treat my bike like a prized poccession. If I have a cheap bike for transport, I may just heck care it.
