Few years back...someone installed top box on the r1. Guess what...the ergonomics forces prove too great....tearing the box away.

Anyone who would be interested in TRE( Diy style)

Choice of switch type and w/o switch type....

Estimated $37-40 for the switched type.

$30 for the w/o switch type.

so is it true that the gear indicator function will be lost?

TRE fools your ECU into thinking it's in 4th, 5th or 6th gear when actually it's in 1st, 2nd or 3rd where the engine ignition timing would be retarded (and negative fuel I think) in the lower rpms. So instead of having 1N23456 mappings, it's all 4N44444, 5N55555 or 6N66666 depending on your selection. I would prefer if they have 4N44456.

The downside is the engine will have poorer fuel efficiencies and more carbon deposits. DIY TRE will most likely cause you to lose the gear indicator function while commercial units require you to cut a wire to the ECU.

but if i put on a pc, it will have the effect of tre too right?

didnt know that commercial units will require to cut wire to the ecu. sounds unattractive to cut my wires. haha.

Nope, you will need the ignition module too, and dyno with 6 different maps for gear 1-6. imo, unless you are a serious trackie and nearing the limits of your bike, just leave it.

One rule.. never bypass a clutch safety switch. Your mapping will go back to neutral.

Fixed it and its a beast now.

I had a saddle. bought, never used. will scratch your paint no matter what.

Sold it after months in storage. Looks goofy.

Magnet Tank bag the way to go. $35 only at helmet boys.

Need to cut a cable to ecu. imo, dun bother as bike is power enough for daily use.

True, I put back and there was a difference.

Never remove or tamper the clutch safety switch as it will bring the bike into safety mode which will run rich and bike operates "differently"
