while exciting as it is to see a trend of 2a bikes resurgence, i just realized the nagging feeling i've been having since first seeing this CBR250 in this thread.

if u cld purchase a cbr400rr brand new (i noe no such thing but humour me), despite its wat ten year old technology, and you put this 'brand new' cbr400rr beside this definitely new CBR250.... which would you buy....?

and i realized wat my nagging feeling is. the CBR250, together with the Ninja 250...... they're not really worthy of the 'CBR' and 'Ninja' names considering the ten year old models that preceded them, which were full-on sportsbikes. i just.... feel sad seeing these kind of bikes being given such legendary names. this one shd be called simply CBF250.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Even if i had the money, i would still get a 250cc. Because i feel that you need the right tool for the job and not something overkill. Like you don't need an air powered driver when all you need is an impact driver.

Air Powered driver --> 400cc

Impact driver --> 250cc

Screwdriver --> 125cc

Your reasoning is flawed. How does having to go thru 4 tiers of licence "satisfy current licence holder"? Also by your logic, a "2C" rider wouldn't be allowed on a Spark 135 but is allowed to handle a RS125 or a 125z instead.

I am glad you're not working in one of those boards that decide this kind of decisions.

Alamak. No lah. I would rather they use European licensing system or japanese licensing system.

Straight forward.

Even M'sia bike licensing system is ok

After some checks. Seems like our local licensing system is really an odd ball.

How it benefit current license holder? well existing holder get auto updates. 200 - 250. 400- 600.

Abit selfish lah. but I think it's not so bad. Class 2 is not bothered by this.

New learner with no license will be affected. But if their passion is strong, they will go all the way to get what they want. It will also kinda turn off jokers, let newbies get used to low power bikes before getting something more powerful. lesser accident I hope.

Anyway, all this is just crappy/crazy ideals. AS if and since when LTA/TP actually bother listern to us?

Still its good to have the current system, sadly it doesn't co-relate been a safety rider as he/she progress from 2B till 2 licensing. Its the attitude of the rider he/she should impose while on the road, correct road education begins with newbies and experienced riders. Shouldn't we focus more of road education than the license scheme? *Peace*

LOL, that's why they are more of a sports commuting than pure sports breed (*who knows there might be good aftermarket parts to ram up some ponies), till today many fans still hopeful for a brand new upgraded CBR400RR, GSX-R400, ZX-R400...

if it happen the pricing might not be attractive, could be close to a 600cc hyper sports

YZF-R125 is a good example, which explain many 2B riders still head for NSR150, KRR150, Mito125, RS125 etc

Actually honda/yamaha can revive 400cc hyper sports, can always tune up the existing CB400SF or XJR400 engine haha!

I wonder how you guys accept the fact that other countries are based on horsepower and not cylinder capacity.. They cant even ride a rs125, nsr150sp, kr150.. That is one of the reason why yamaha yzf125, cbr125r is born, to help these people.. If im not wrong up to 20bhp, then 33bhp and lastly, what they call it thier full lisence..

my two babes..

In Europe learner only can ride bike up to 125cc hp not exceeding 15bhp for at least 18 mths before can take the full licence,Still not bad consider after you've taken the full licence can straight away buy unlimited cc bikes.They can also ride RS125 restricted version (14hp) compared to unrestricted which easily churn 32hp,SG ones is the restricted model while Malaysia is the 32hp

sadly its quite restrictive in bhp... if can ramp up till 40+bhp or offer unrestricted version would be nice.

just to let you know there's a leaked information in Indonesia that CBR250R price will be 48million rupiah which means about SGD6858 for the C-ABS version and 45million rupiah or SGD6429 (assuming SGD1 = 7000rupiah) -on the road price-

Well, This is realistically speaking.

Of course I like the modern approach of just 2 bike class.

But knowing LTA. They will sure give the standard answer of bike too power for newbie to handle and etc.

By creating a 2C, it satisfied LTA. (with exception if newbie get rs125 or mito 125.)

Then all current 2B holder can get up to 250 and 2a get up to 600. This satisfied the current license holder.

Finally, with the current scheme. It is more in sync with the international bike license scheme (I think but I may be wrong)

Fah king waste of time IMO, current system is fine.

its nice! but i still think LTA should revise cc for 2b up to 250cc and ban or phase out 2 strokers. that would be good! quieter environment! lol.

Why the F should they phase out or ban 2 strokers when they deliver more power for lesser weight than 4 strokes?
