u have to go real sloww and keep the bike straight~ especially when going over the 2 humps just b4 and after the counter itself.

GSA riders.. anyone tried going thur Woodlands Checkpoint using Bio-metric clearance? can it go thru with the side panniers.... please advice :)

Thanks in advice :)

I have the same problem with my R1200R:

I will not use the causeway again, no point saving some kilometers and toll but reducing the lifespan of the clutch plate which is expensive to repair. Not to mention the risk to the panniers and the stress of a long line of impatient cubs behind me.

Hi,

Can I check if you guys on the alarm system for R1200GS? One of the mechanic told me it is advisable to off the alarm system coz it would drain the battery very fast. Any comment?

Combine motors...

Brother Limsteel, saw your signature. Your R1150GS consumption so high? My can go between 18+ to 20km/L. Local riding is about 18+. Just fyi.

If you go in off peak hours its easier to use the normal lanes. Once, guess its bad luck, the checkpoint wasquite crowded and I dont have the patience or the bike may overheat and took the biometric lane cos it got lesser bikes. But not before getting honk by several MY bikes due to stuck at the bottleneck before entering the biometric lanes.

If I can recall only twice out of about 6 times I use the biometric lanes my side panniers didn't hit the barriers. Maybe my skill not there yet.. Lol

Hi guys just wondering dat do i need to book for servicing at d KL bmw service center n do i need to get my bike adopted to b maintained or service by them? Sorry to trouble u guys.. Im a noob wen it comes to the GSA.. Thanks in advance..

Staying in woodlands, i used the woodlands checkpoint daily to pump.. Always been using the normal lanes since panniers on. Its all about entering at the right timing which, can sometimes be tricky.

So far used the biometric lane without panniers but must go slow. Shd not be a problem entering wif panniers since the handlebar got through.. But yeah go real slow.

If your alarm is BMW DWA6 it will NOT drain your battery. I have fitted the BMW DWA6 alarm system on my GSA and I have absolutely no problem. The alarm transmition will go off after 5 minutes and you can only deactivate by turning the ignition key. However your bike is still protected. In order to conserve the battery and ensure that the bike will start, the anti-theft alarm switches off automatically a few days after being activated.

If your alarm if aftermarket, then for sure will drain your battery.

Cheers!!

Anyone using 10/15W40 engine oil in their 800 twin? I know the manual says 15W50 but at that moment, I couldn't find it, so used 20W40 mineral now. Just wanna know if there is anything to look out for (problems) if any. I'm gonna go up north soon so yeah, heard for long dist travel and generally our spore weather, better to settle for something thicker for our Beemer. Just wanna confirm. Thanks!

I recommend Navigator IV, easy to install. If you buy Zumo then you need to get an adaptor to fit to the GPS soccet under the peak (for GS-GSA). I have fitted Nav IV on my bike absolutely no problem. Automatically switches off 1-2 minutes after the engine is switched off.

Anyone knows where can I install a USB power adapter for my 1200GS?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Suggest you to purchase a BMW Powerlet then use a cable to connect it with a USB Car Charger. On one side, Iron Sholder the wire with the contact tips of the USB Car Charger and then screw the other end of the wire to BMW Powelet. After that insulate it with Insulating Tape. It works but remind you is NOT waterproof.
