i got no experience on this.. but i dun think would have any adverse effects..

I'll most likely do the exhaust on my new bike after running in..

at least you know how crappy the stock exhaust is before the upgrades..

In tat case, I'll jus go for the shields/protectors upgrade 1st. Once run in, the performance upgrade will come.....if pocket permits tat is :p

got this minor problem with my stock drz.....

at the traffic light, once the light goes green, as i was abt to move off, the engine stop. luckily, managed to start the bike within a few seconds. this happens a few times already. is it because of my moving off for the 1st gear is too fast (letting go of clutch too fast n early) that the bike stall?

or is it the safety clutch mechanism which is still present in my bike which makes it stop.

any pointers? thanks....

my guess is rider problem.. my first few days of motard is also like this..

you can try adjusting the clutch and throttle free play..

or use the current settings but rev more when moving off..

try to get use to the clutch and it'll be ok..

Cheaper than $1880, i cant promise a definite price, but i can bring you to one of the advertiser to ask..

it's with installation..

prepare $1880, you might get more than just a Yoshi full system with the price or maybe you will use less than $1880..

biting point, i think ur right. the rider that is me is where the problem lies.

lucky i didn't break the safety clutch mechanism. if not waste $$$ for that, can make better use $$$ for other mods for the bike.

anyway, what exhaust you getting??

Am considering LV X3 full system.

Would love to get yoshi but pocket a bit shallow now aft paying downpayment.

Having read ur FAQ, yoshi beats the rest, but most likely gotta settle something to suit my pocket size in view tat tere're more mods to do :)

you dun need to fork out any money to override the clutch safety mechanism..

it's as easy just plucking out some connectors and bypassing them, 2mins job..

the new cf tip full systems is good.. sounds good as yoshi..

just that it's not titanium..

quality of stainless steel header of LV beats the rest..

Yup yup, heard some positive reviews abt tat too....most likely will settle for LV lor

One very noob question....do u tink brand new bike still require check on all aspect? Eg. Engine oil, various fluid, coolant etc....

I jus realize the chain is slightly on the 'dry' side n

had spent a bit of time to lub it. Also realized tat the coolant overflow tank is empty......blur!!

Of course to be safe, I'll do my own check once I find the time (b4 riding of course! Bike shop is near my hse, only abt 3km away. Ride back n park at carpark yest).

of cuz you need to check on your new bike.. that bike had been sitting there for god knows how long since it's finished its assembly and shipped in from Japan..

do the necessary first, the loctite and regreasing if you can do it..

then the protection parts..

Posted

Bring the bike to me.. I like working on clean new bikes.

Set it right the first time and you don't have to worry about it for years.

It is not advisable to ride around with an empty radiator overflow coolant reservoir all the time.. there is a very strong reason why it should not be done.

Cam Chain Tensioner

Much has been written regarding the Automatic Cam Chain Tensioner (ACCT) on the DRZ. The early ACCT’s were prone to failure as their spring would fail and cause the chain to slack resulting in engine damage. In 2003, Suzuki updated the ACCT to utilize a ratcheting mechanism, which prevents the tensioner from retracting in the event of spring failure. Several websites recommend switching to a Manual Cam Chain Tensioner (MCCT) however those that I have installed have a tendency to leak oil through the threads and require regular adjustment which is just another thing to adjust. Also if you mess up on the install you can cause damage to the engine, which according to the instructions is your fault and your expense.

If you have a pre-2003 DRZ, your best bet is to upgrade to the 2003-on ACCT (part# 12830-29F10 and gasket 12837-24A10). It is maintenance free, doesn’t leak, and has been tested in excess of 30K miles by numerous riders.
