did u noe Civil Def at Ubi is having FSM course?

wsh officer will normally have to double up as....

1. eco (environmental control officer) in construction site;

2. fsm (fire safety manager) in manufacturing factory;

3. safety assessor in shipyard;

4. fm (facility manager) in other sectors;

5. qm (quality manager) in some sectors;

6. mr (management representative) for iso certified firm;

7. sm (security manager) in some other sectors...

there are more to this list. safety is really pai tang (hard to earn).

for those who double up, please remember to ask for double pay or at least 1.5 times the pay of a wsho.

if not, you are just spoiling the market, taking away job from another person. there is no such thing as value added services. it's all the bullshits from the bosses and employers who refuse to pay more.

when you screwed up during your double up, you would likely be screwed more than double. so, think twice before you double up.

Wah, like that, I can earn about 12.5K a month. I must ask my manager to increase my pay liao.

1. Compliance (dealing with import and export licences, permits from the 9 -10 local government agencies in Singapore) - Due to its importance in the survival of my company, maybe around $5K.

2. Environment, Health and Safety - around $5k

3. Security - around $2.5k

But I am getting only less than 1/4 of the projected $12.5K. :cry:

I have some problem. Safety people are more busy towards paperwork or at site actually? I have friends of mine who are so busy with paperwork. I wonder what kind of paperworks are they doing? Can you tell me what kind of paper work are you guys as a safety personnel are doing? Safety people should be busy at site as well to inspect and observe all the acts by the workers also right? So what exactly are all these paperwork?

Hi Bro,

Err.. think you need to zoom in the area of your concern. e.g what industry, doing what jobscope. I think paperwork workload of a SS is different from a WSHO doubling up as FSM, ECO etc.

talking about paperwork....

it all depend on how good you are with paper lah. every job also got paperwork one. of course safety got more lah. cos you need to cover others and also to cover your ass...

if you don't do paper work, you end up need more paper to clean up the sh*t.

for example, dealing with chemical on site. contractor need to submit a copy of msds (material safety data sheet) to you for vetting and record purposes. you need to keep a chemical register on site. you need to make sure that contractor inform their workers on msds, so you need a copy of their hazards communication record. they have to submit a risk assessment which reflect the use of such chemical. you need to draft (or if your contractor is kiiiilat one, then they will provide you with one) a emergency plan what if there is a spillage on this chemical etc. if your contractor act blur, then you may have to do all of the above plus etc.

for those safety ppl who are not very good with paperwork, they would be more happy walking the site.
