Are Harleys Really Worth It?

i am a great fan of harleys and to be exact i adore them. i know the power,the feel,the sound are all great but still are harleys worth it? cuz the price of a normal bike/cruiser as compared to a harley is the same way the bmw 1 series is compared to the bmw m1.

Worth is a matter of personal taste, logically, a 1000cc sportbike isn't worth it because a kupchai does the job of commuting well enough.

for me i'd rather ride a kupchai and even a phantom 150.

 

this is a true story, as i have never test ride nor got any desire nor temptation to ride my dad's sportster.

Owned a Harley at aged 23, many friends told me Harley ain't for young dudes. But I didnt care and haven't regretted since. I owned a sports bike and a motard before, but I've rode my Harley much more than the previous 2 bikes. Don't know why, Harley can't corner, can't go as fast as class 2 sports bike, can't play humps and curbs. But still, I love riding the Harley. IMO, when you buy a Harley, you're also buying your lifestyle. Tonnes of accessories to play with too. No offense to bike lovers of other class.

Fast in top speed... of course a no...

but come on it a chopper but when u want to be fast ... Can be done but depend on what U have done...lol

Yes mate, Harley's are able to corner, especially sportsters, which is what I'm riding, but can't compare to sports bike luh. Can't say the same for baggers though. Haha. Anyway speed wise, of course pick up can't fight those class 2 sports bike but hey, I've heard of 883 sportsters hitting 220km/hr before, and still capable of going more. Haven't tried that myself though. But I went 140+ before, and to me the engine doesn't sound stressed at all.

 

And Harleys are bulletproof. Get one, service it the right way and it'll be able to last you for a long time.

SG roads don't need 300, hell 150 is more than enough, Malaysia roads, in the 200s at least plus not many would go touring with with their sportbikes.

indeed i am also being affected by this qus.. i am a all time sportbike rider.. have been riding for the past 2yrs on my sportbike.. but recently fren intro xr1200 and i begin to love it.. i have to test ride or see the actual item but i can sense that it is a nice sportster as i love the 883 also.

 

i am seriously considering to change xr1200 maybe in the next 1-2yr (i know is very long) as age are also catching up with me.. to me.. i wan to play enough on my sportbike before i consider a tourer.. cause all along i love to go touring..

Look at your own budget first. If you can afford it, go for it. As mentioned by others, it's going to be fun and it's also a lifestyle.

 

I've been there and done that for 2 years. Had to sell due to going away and of course, budget constraints since I have 1 kid and 1 small income

U just need to find any procificent mech (provided he ahs the right measurement of tools) & walau....

there are many ways to define lifestyle....

i agree with u that we move on in life & priorty changes...

but to me as long I'm riding I'm a happy man REGARDLESS any makes & model of bike...

Nv regret owning a harley then only regret y nv get a bigger one as sporty too small for me...lol

& i make frequent trips up to Hat Yai so need something faster lah due to limited leave available at work...

hence no chance sold my sporty gt a bird instead...lol

Still miss riding my sporty though...hahaha

with good spare parts sourcing on fleabay, U have no problem to maintain 1....

just dun go & get slaughter at the agent ....

Pricing are.....

hence there are more posers than bikers there....

Be a Biker riding a harley not a poser.... (I've seen too many, sadly)

mesti stay humble.. go out carpark.. try not to rev..rev throtle..(if possible) like mat moto la..

check to see whois behind your pipe.. if got makcik or pakcik..(later kena heart attack..) and damn is not fun being there especially with an open face helmet(no visor)

my neighbour cannot tahan the nightly "loud explosions".. imagine at 3-4am..
