I'm guessing the serviceman must be a big shot or something?

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

taking MRT is not cowardice, riding a bike is not fullproof convenient tpt, u perspire, gear to carry, gets wet, cant carry whole family. Riding a bike base on choice is a cool lifestyle, nothing to proof coward or hero. As for small bikes being push around, i find speeding drivers really stupid, Sg have the most irritating number of traffic lights, every goondu that speed past me, still end up at the same traffic light waiting when i reach. How stupid is that?

Haha, cool lifestyle? Wrong. Because its cheaper than a car, it could be cheaper than public and you don't have to worry much about jams, human or vehicle.

Most drivers don't even carry their families in their cars and they don't use it as part of their work. Besides from point A to B in traffic is still the fastest on bike, followed by MRTs if they don't break down.

They just drive to work, hit and run once in a while, drive off the road into the drain sometimes, the usual. If more Singaporeans could balance on two wheels, there wouldn't be a need for COE or ERPs.

Or it could be worse. And we end up like the streets of TW or VN. Lotsa bikes.

Trust me. I rather ride in a sea of cars than a sea of bikes. Cars are more predictable than bikes.

"It said she was not wearing a seatbelt and she was ejected from the van."

It seems many of us overlook this point in the report.

Many of us do not wear seatbelt when we are at backseat, & especially in taxi. It is too late to react when you see danger.

This incident remind us of the death of Princess Diana, in car accident of 1998 (can't remember the exact year, but around that time).

She & her boy friend were in back seat, without seat belts. They died when the vehicle they were travelling went out of control.

Whatever conspiracy theory about her death (Secret services, murder attempt etc) is, both of them may be alive today, if not for seatbelt.

Seatbelt saves lives. Let use it if you are in 4 or more wheels, front or back.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16

Anyway, what I had posted above are my own views and from my own experience with encountering with many sinkie drivers in Sinkapore on our roads and expressways. I reiterate again that many sinkie drivers are impatient, reckless, arrogant and with poor/bad driving skills and sense of judgement.

many sg drivers/riders say many sg drivers are inconsiderate & lousy drivers... is it because we ourselves dont realise that we are inconsiderate & lousy?

The posted speed limits on most interstate highways 75 MPH and in some it can be 85 MPH.... and Americans just like Singaporeans or anyone for that matter will not be faithfully sticking to the speed limit either.

In winter.. there is always the danger of 'black ice' ie water frozen on the road surface... no grip for even the best tyres in the world.

Strong winds, with speeds up to 100 kmh, can rush out of rain storms due to the sudden downdraft of cold air.. and such cross winds that hit theopen highways can veer or topple a vehicle with high centre of gravity.. eg trucks and vans.

You seldom see drains along USA interstate highways... it just not economical for them to build them.. so water drainage during rain storms is a problem. Hitting a patch of water at high speeds will result in aquaplaning of the tyres resulting in loss of control.

I am from the RSAF before and have worked and lived in the USA for a total of 9 years. Any RSAF personnel posted to the USA will have to go for the USAF safety courses for drivers before they even let you drive into their air bases.

So if really dunno the actual circumstances and causes of the accident... please don't speculate. I do not think that anyone would like to get into an accident regardless of whatever vehicle they may be operating.
