looking for arai fan?? me am arai fan! love those designs. and so comfy. but then like most ppl say, arai helmet the lining at the chin there easily spoil n drop off. the cushions also will become thinner and loosen over time. and they cost a bomb to replace. i just replaced mine last yr for like 250 bucks? tot of getting new one instead but just love my helmet's disfigured design. i just love the okada and the phoenix series. now no more already.

ps: seems like arai is more ex than it was nowadays. just 2 yrs ago, a haga replica was going for only 650! i just enquired yesterday that same haga replica cost 720 now! and that's after discount! wtf?

for shoei helmets, i never own any. but i went to try them on. feel good but i prefer arai. design also nice.. but then in my heart i like arai so it depends on individual la i feel.

hi fren ,how come the replacing of chin so ex ? 250$ ? care to comment.. finallyz......im getting my rx7 rr4 nakano replica in hrs time! cant wait for it.. sweeeeeetttttt xD

my dilema too.......shoei x11 vs arai rx7rr4...

the price of a shoei x11 psb approved can keep my upcoming hole from oversizing......arai...will blow big hole.

(Why get one that is psb approved? any SHOEI that doesn't have the PSC sticker means its not from JAPAN)(PSC = Japan QC)

from foreign reviews

noise............shoei quieter

(Not much diff actually)

cushion......arai better...dry cool

(if the cusion does not fall apart due to its short lifespent. Cusion always become nua nua lidatt then got power comming out. Shoei cusion can last even if its for daily use)

airflow......comparable...

chioness for plain colours.....arai vents more chio

(The Arai vents look more chio when their flyin off while your riding too. replacement: $90 Plain colour $120 design... PER SIDE!!! the bloody double side tape to stick it is $15 F***** ex)

weight.....arai 2 to 3 ounces lighter....can feel diff from ogk ff3...but shoei....minimum weight savings detected...but i got no problem with ff3 weight..so its just a plus but not totally neccessary

(Ehhh.... maybe its me, but I find that FF4 is more silent den both the helmet.)

build quality.........both got minor problems.......shoei like leak water in rain, n straps cushion insufficient...arai rubber base will come out in 1 year becos of the glue.

(Not only the rubber piece, mine the vent flew off . The trigger to close the vents all came loose and keep on flapping while riding. My friends one the mouth vent got stuck and cannot close. Arai to many buttons/potential things to break spoil and lost. But its still the best poser performance helmet for people who have lotsa $$ in their pocket. The PSC approved SHOEI wont have the leaking water problem.)

one question

can update for fogging..........for rainy situation...for shoei x-11 have fogging experience...(its talk about negative air pressure minimising fogging seems to have some complains about its tendency to fog much easier than arai rx7rr4....)

(Remove the air curtain at the chin piece, it'll reduce the fogging)

shell.........snc kelvar for arai............aim fibreglass for shoei.....reputable brands for protecting ur head....if weight is not a concern....can consider as par...

(kevlar is a better material...confirm!!) :thumb:

any other factors (pros n cons) for those wearing.......can feedback?

Ehhh... just my personnel encounter. Also heard some feedback from my kakies.:thumb:

To me i dont like arai cause it is noisy...the cushion not so thick for the open faced ones like my ex-ram2,ex uptown.....

Arai ear cushion can be changed up to 25mm.

anyway, thicker cushion is not equal to better isolation to wind noise.

I think when reviewer say the helmet is noisy, they are only refering to wind buffeting noise on the helmet.

Some helmet totally eliminate sound, including sound you want to her ... like a horn.

I wear a Arai SZ/m , there is a review done by me.

I think Japanese helmet reduce wind buffetting noise very effectively, so you can hear the road better. So, if you think about it, it really does becomes "noisier" .... simply because there is no wind noise interfering ....

my 2 cents worth.

Looking For R6 08 anyone selling?

Arai chin guard will be spoiled easily maybe after 1.5~2 years? Both helmets of mine came off... Normally, a slight "pull" it comes out to give better comfy at high speed traveling... BUT! The entire piece was on my hand. o_O

Not forgetting those who are using RR3 or RR4. The ventilation seems to be trapping alot of dusts at the rear. Furthermore, simultaneous on/off the ventilation buttons... Makes it loosen easily. You name it from Visor to helmet.

Good side seems to be as having a helmet on doesnt feel as one. You can know your enviroment or surroundings more. Although it really sound pitchy on high speed. But it really helps. And not forgetting. The cooling system serves it purposes to be there.

Nevertheless, never wore any shoei helmets before. Cant comment much on it. Thats what I found over arai helmets poor and good sides.

went to try out the Shoei helmets and realised that the padding for the shoei helmets are much thinner compared to the Arai helmets. Even the XS helmets might be too loose for me.... anyone has such experiences? Any idea how to solve this?

shoei xs? hmmm japan doesn't produce shoei in that size leh. i got my xs shoei fr states when i was there. the s size was too loose for me oso. arai got xs and size is just nice. visor wise still prefer shoei and likewise the finishing.

helmet too loose, then u probably hv to think of a way to pad the helmet to make it fit but why spend so much n yet hv to modify ur helmet? why not go around trying other brands first

My old Arai Signet which I imported fm US in 1996 is still in good con. Used it 2 yrs till '98, stopped riding then took it up agian in 2002. Had the entire pads inside done up by Chong Aik in 2002 n it serves me nicely till today. Yes, d mouth lining is loose but a bit of glue took care of it. Other than scratches, it's ok. Any tips where to repaint my helmet, n will they stick back d ARAI words?

Bro, I went to chiap lee 2yrs back to respray my OW. But when it came back, they only paste a stick of the original arai and a cut-up OW sticker on it over the lacquered surface. Damn updet with it. Cost me $100++. But I found a shop to that does respray at $50 only if you can remove all the visor, cushion and any rubber pieces. Then the shop will put any sticker you want and lacquer it to suit you taste. In that sense, you can re-produce the original look. If you interested for the shop name and address, PM me.

Just got a X11 a older model lah.. ukawa..

Generally i am aiming for both Arai and shoei but came to think of all the vents and rudder lining will fall apart turns me off..

Some says Arai better fitting, shoei better fitting but both is due to ue heard's shape..

fogging i dunno about arai.. but shoei's visor is nt those anti fog type as compair to HJC.. i own 2 of CL14 series..

But shoei's anti fog tech "for me lah" really works.. if u close the vents near ur mouth and breath hard out it'll fog.. but if u open the vents there the fog will gone and instead u'll feel all cool winds blowing thus reallly no fogging problems after that.. but abit strange as mouth feels cool as the wind keep shooting at mu mouth..

:thumb: Ups for shoei..
