Inside Mustafa there is a car accessories section on level 4. The Maxima stuff are over there.

Ah_Pui, dun buy from Mustafa lah. Confirm plus chop more ex den motodiam.

My fren bought Maxima Ultra from there $23++. U bring to motodiam ask them change EO, service charge $5+/-. Total = $28++

I change at Ah Koon, Maxima Extra 15w50 Fully Syn $20. Maxima Ultra i think $22 only.

For TA200 go for Maxima Extra 15w50 fully syn or as ANR_Impex recommends, Maxima Blend semi-syn 20w50.

Here's a good place to start learning about engine oils!

IMHO you should get a good quality 2-stroke engine oil as the oil only gets a few seconds to do its job before getting expelled... Motul is quite well-known, sponsors of the Camel Yamaha Team in MotoGP.

I've got a question, for scooters, the transmission is separate from the engine unlike conventional bikes making use of clutch plates where the transmission is soaked in the engine oil.

In this case, would the use of engine oil meant for cars make any difference on the scooter since there is no clutch slippage to speak of?

which engine oil n 2t is best used for bike like rxz? i was recommended to motul.. is there any other?

The range of 2T is huge. High performance castor and ester based ones offer real improvement in protection and response. Whether it is economical to do so for your RXZ is another thing.

Clutch slippage is made out to be bigger a problem than it really is. You can run out there and put any Xw40 grade car oil in your bike, and if the bike is in good condition, chances are you won't have any clutch slip.

The real problem with car oils is that it has been developing towards controlling emissions for the past half decade, critical protection ingredients are gradually being reduced. Car engine designs are generally much less stressful on the oil and able to live with such lowered level of wear protection. Many modifications have been done thru the yrs to adapt car engines to be less demanding on the lubricant performance, the designers have alot of space to play around with to make things easier on the oil.

Motorcycle engines, because they're so compact and generally higher output per cc, still rely heavily on these antiwear ingredients for protection. If you use car oil, your engine won't explode immediately, but accelerated wear might creep in over time. This is especially so in high performance bikes. In general, car oils are also not made to be as tough as good motorcycle oils because they don't deal with so much forces that physically destroy the oil molecules. For example, a 0W40 car oil is common, but is never found as a bike oil because it will be destroyed quickly in bike application.

Just to add some food for thought, majority of cars spend the majority of the time in the 2,000~3,000 rpms, for the majority of bikes, it is more in the region of 5,000rpms and above.

those who bought 20W-50 motor oil at S$10.50 r meant for car/diesel engine, it not for motorcycle engine.

motorcycle engine oil is labelled as Max-Cycle 20W-50 selling at S$16 which is still cheaper than other synthetic oil brands like Rockoil($18), Castrol R4($23), Mobil Gold($25).

anyway, i also brought the $10.50 synthetic oil then realized it can't be just labelled as motor oil. checked the website to confirm n went back to the shop to exchange n pay the extra more for the right stuff.

is there any expiry date for EO?

And when the EO Bottle is open, is there any limited days i can keep it?

It's really ok to keep as long as u cap it tightly. I won't worry about 6~12months.
