anyone try these b4.

TOTAL motorcycle engine oil sold at carrefour for less S$5/btl.

i know it is cheap oil.

many will say cheapsake oil is poor performance n lousy.

hearsay only, anyone actually use this say otherwise.

of course not on performance 1litre bike but on cheap 2b bikes.

these r not full synthetic but definitely should be on par with semi-syn n hydrocrack stuff.

they also have mineral oil, with label as "MCO".

i believe although its cheap.. its on par with the regular semi-syn u can find in the market.. i will try another semi syn on my next oil change n update on my findings.. probably gg to try Shell VSX 4T from JB..

Esso and Mobil are the same company. Can try the Mobil 1 Racing 4T full syn for motorcycles. They had offer last month at $18 per lit + free gifts, normal price at $22 per lit. While stocks last, it's at Bt Merah Mobil petrol station.

No prob, Can get it at HKL, motoworld and jln besar area shud have. make sure look out for price competitive. Motul is great stuff. no joke!

Check out some of the comments here. Many compare Maxima products favourably against the best brands, including Silkolene and Motul. Maxima Ultra also uses an exclusive polyol ester base not found in Motul products until early last year. Maxima is ahead of the competition (including big budget advertisers like Motul) in bringing the best 4T technology to end users.

used maxum synblend for my kr for the first time n i find my gear tend to go neutral frequently when i kick up the lever for 2nd gear...didnt happened too much before but its getting worse.

Motorex reduced my engine brake. Helps alot for quick downshifting before corners/turns.

Here is my Personal, Un-scientific layman feedback on engine oil i've used.

(ROYAL PURPLE)

I used royal purple for long time, its still the smoothest and most silent for my air-cool cb250. Gear shift also very SUPER smooth. Rode to mersing and back on this e.o. it thin out after several week from the trip.

(MAXIMA)

PAst months tried syn maxima and also the semi syn. Its the most lasting engine oil ive ever used to date. Seems like it never thin out. And the engine heat around my leg ma-jiam no more :thumb: Its just not as "smooth" as royal purple in terms of gear change. But the engine oil make you feel like you just change oil every time u start-your-engine" lol i rode to phuket n back on this e.o.

(AMSOIl)

Akan datang :sorry: Looks damn good in specs and charts on the testing done.

Going to try it and post up here.

Maybe the 'smoothness' is from using a thinner grade. As you know, Maxima oil have extremely good shear resistance, but you need to find the right grade or you'll never hit the viscosity sweetspot unlike normal oils. The downside is that you need to know your bike better, the upside is that the oil really performs from 0km till it time to change.

I have worked with some similar model groups to narrow down their viscosity requirements, their initial disappointment with Maxima (wrong visc) becomes a :thumb: once they understood the right viscosity to use.

Amsoil specs sure look good, but it funny that they like to make unfair comparisons. The Maxima product they used to compare to their fully syn is actually the semi synthetic Maxum4 SynBlend. Note how close in performance the Synblend comes, I can only wonder how much better the Extra or the Ultra will stack up.

hey dude, tks for the input.

More layman feedback:-

I have tried both the maxima grade but neither give the same immediate smoothness of royal purple. The "funniest" part was when I first time switch to maxima from R.purple. I was expecting a very smooth gear change and especially downshift into neutral gear; which has always been a tad "hard to find" for my old bike. This happens to most of the old bike I own.

Well, nothing happen. Gear change was still not smooth as Im used to with R.purple. In fact getting into neutral gear was just as difficult. I was disappointed and change back to R purple after only a few rides.

I keep wondering if R.purple added some "love potion" aka special lub like "motor uP" into their blend

Anyway, I eventually got back to trying maxima syn and full syn again because I keep reading all the stuffs you put in forum about maxima quality & viscosity and stuffs; I was a bit convince my first try was "something wrong".

I bought all my maximas e.o. from AH Khoon, and each time I feecback to him about it and the royal purple difference.

Give and take, I'd like to use R purple for my bike ride in spore, and change to maxima when I go for ride up north.

As for Amsoil, Im just going to use the "can catch mouse mean good cat" attitude; but the comparison with semi syn is really hmm.....how can lidat..

Cheers!

Ah Koon only carry the thicker grades, Extra 15W50 or Synblend 20W50. Since the RP thins fast, I am referring to the thinner grades. Ultra 5W50 for example. Maybe you try that next time, but you won't find it at Ah Koon at the moment, it can be arranged.

Gear shifting performance for Maxima is second to none once you find the right viscosity. In your case, you're not really varying the viscosity much in the correct direction, which is thinner. Besides, all cycle oils have a minimum level of friction for the wet clutch, race oils like Maxima will be right at limits. They cannot go below JASO MA specs for friction, if not there will be clutch slip issues.

Which RP are you using? I can have a better estimate. I have even blended the oil to a specific operating viscosity for users in the past, they understood my point once they felt the effect. Btw, an oil that thins fast is not desirable, it shows the weakness of the base oil and how it degrades in physical properties, and it affects its ability to function as a lubricant.
