Dear bros and sis

I need some opinions regarding about cutting off my bike price and change to a new rides(Most probably smaller bikes). Currently, I am riding a Yamaha R1 07 and I'm suffering major losses on repairs. Previously last 2 months, I sent my bike to one shop due to some loss of valve compressions. I noticed fuel coming out at one of the header and sent the bike to the shop. They said my pistons are damaged and one of the valves wore off. So they did a valve clearance changed my engine block(2nd hand), 4 pistons(2nd hand) and 3 exhaust valves(original), coolant, engine oil and etc. Spent more than 2k+. It was rough after it was repaired and the performance isn't what it used to be. So was thinking probably running in.

Few days later, engine oil was leaking from my block, sent it back and they said something like electric starter not tight enuff or something. They fixed it(still in warranty) and so I took it out again. Then a few days later, my coolant fans didn't work. Send it in again to fix the wiring. Then another couple of days, my right fan didn't worked. I was pissed. Sent it again and fix it.

So rode it for 2 months and the problem of valve comes again. Sent it just last week, and one of the valves in the cylinder head wore off again. What went wrong? Will that be considered still in service warranty?

They ask me the other 13 valves to make sure the compression is tight. That will cost me another 1000+ bucks to spend. I'm contemplating on changing whether stay with this ride or not to change to a new ride. I have not pushed the bike in its limits nor enter a track day yet, only used 1 & 1/2 year. I just can't trust the same mech or another mech in the same shop to service my bike. Any suggestions?

If I wish to cut off the bike at my old motortiam that I pay monthly, how much do I incur a loss? The machine price is 20k and I'm left with another 2k to cut off. From there if I transit to a smaller ride(600c or below) will there be more loss or unless I don't take any bike at all? How does this arrangement work? :pity: :dot:

Feedback would be great. THANKS!!

You have to understand. Spend so much already, go other shop service also, how much more to spend...

Anyway, TS, i would recommend that you go to another shop and see what they say. If use sommore money, sell the damn bike away.

This is where i (having many bikes) many times i send bikes for repair and then when it is done it seems that there will be another problem. Iwhile i am sure our bikes problems are almost interlink, but I have a feeling many shops really want to tarok us. they know where to fiddle and tada the next problem come in. until now i have never met a mechanic who can give a straight answer and get a job well done.

BE AWARE !!!!!!

Yeah, I dun trust mechs these days. The shop use to have a good service but over the years it sucked. Quite fed up, not satisfied playing with this bike. If only have the time to learn how to repair myself, can built in more knowledge and build it up.

There are good mechanics and bike shops out there. I have a feeling the bike shop that you went is either not competent and/or your bike a really screwed up, not maintained properly.

R1 is a quite popular bike, or atleast the FZ1 is, which should have very similar engine components. You should go to the FZ1/R1 thread and ask for advice, where people send their bike for servicing and whom they trust. Trust is the key here, you already lost it on the current bikeshop and now you will always doubt them and wont have peace of mind. Just cut losses and move to another bikeshop

If there are multiple problems with your bike, have you ever considered looking for a low mileage same model bike engine from overseas and import in? You can then cannibalise all the parts.

Wun disclose the Bikeshop till get a new bike.hints around kaki bukit there.

Thinking of doing that but might end up more costs than what I anticipated. Guess I might get a 600cc. Still deciding.

Nvm,I'll disclosed the name. The name is Republic Motors. Beware bikers. Trust a truly specialised mech around Sg to survice ya bike. Tink I'll stick with my ride and perhaps cannibalise more parts as adviced.Heh.

Yeah sure. I dun mind hearing from you m8.

My bike shop is at Xin Min Auto Center. It is a multi story carpark alike place with lots of automobile shops. The shop i go to is on e 2nd floor, combine motors. It is at 1 corner, can't miss it. I trust the mechnics but i can't say the same for all visitors. The price is confirm chop not the cheapest but I still willing to pay the small extra for the max comfort and trust tat I can get. I think those things r priceless. =D
