For transport purposes it will be really hard to decide between your car and bike. Car shelters you from rain and can style hair. Bike beats the heavy traffic. Tough decisions...how?

If i am single, i might still keep it. But most likely i might get a car when i get married. So most likely would sell the bike. It depends on your situation really.

Is a want not a need of owning both car & bike.

My answer is ; I will keep both as much as I can afford to.

agree! Important thing is keep it within the budget. Bike cant move without petrol but kid cant do without milk too.

It all depends on your purpose of riding. Is it for transport? Or is it for the passion for 2 wheelers, and the pure joy of having the evening breeze hitting your face after a hard day at work?

Well... I got a car due to work and clocked 75000km over 2 and a half years. The bike was never sold... Although I rode it once every 3 weeks only, clocking 1-3k km a year.

Last month I sold the car because I decided I could do without it.

The thread I would open instead is "would u sell the car away because u got a bike?" :deal:

Unless u got financial issues with new family additions etc or choose to become a full time cager.. I can't see the point of letting a 2 wheeler go.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

1) assuming it is HDB, car parking is at least $60 min MORE per month than bike. ie. min $720 MORE per year or $7200 over 10 years.

2) you did not explain why you need to drive because of your parents. no offence, but are they er...cannot 'move around with convenience'? pardon me if i am rude, my angmo cannot find a polite phrase. unless it is so absolutely neccessary that you cannot consider giving up your car ( business? etc )

3) your situation sums it all up. i have driven company lorries before. when company 'withdraw' lorries due to change in job scope, i also found out how i can cope without them. if your work requires you to have one, make your company provide, unless you are self employed with your own business needs.

otherwise, in sg context, the rest of us learn to cope. it is not just ONLY about the 'joy of riding' ( for the rich or the angmos ), it is actually economic sense for most riders out there in sg.

agree! Important thing is keep it within the budget. Bike cant move without petrol but kid cant do without milk too.

4) the CAR's installments, parking, erp, future COE renewal ( btw, coe is always included in the sale price of a used car, when coe go up, price of used car also go up proportionally ) uproad tax, servicings, repairs, maintainance can pay for a lot of milk & cab fares. i won't include petrol savings in case he got a thirsty bike or insurance in case he is in a high risk group. no offence intended

bro my bike still not fully paid every month got to pay installment it's not just the parking.

5) i assume you won't be asking this question if you could afford both. if you can't afford both, i assume you are not rich. So you should try to save more...which one you think you can save more $ by letting it go? i assume your car will also have installment ( unless it is a free gift or company vehicle )

unless your car is absolutely neccessary, die die cannot have no car, in singapore context ( not overseas ), cars are actually a luxury.
