u should able to get 23-24km/l. the fuel needles.

oh... The fuel jet is inside the carb? I once heard the mechanic said inorder to obtain a good fuel consumption, a smaller size hole of fuel jet is required. I think my one is original one..

U think you guys have it bad? I just bought a spec 2 3 months back from W*** F*** and everthing's been going bad to worse. Paid deposit 2K for a bike thats costs 6.4K.

After the first month, found out my bike overheat signal blinking. Shop said they service and top up my coolen when i took over it. I check and found it dry, no coolen at all!

Been monitoring the FC for the last 2 months and notices that I can barely reach 16.5km/l! Tried servicing my carbs but only changed by 1 km/l. Now, its back to 15km/l. I'm in desparate need for help and advice on what i can do to improve my mileage. Tried to ask the shop to change to Spec3 but he asked me to top up $1500!! Can't return my bike cos it means i have to top up additional S$400 to get rid of it and no cash value to get out a new bike. Feel damn cheated!

Should i overhaul my bike since its not worth it to come our a new bike? How much does and overhaul cost? Hope someone can give me some insight.

stock will do. no need go for smaller jet.

ur bike is kind of over. the heat warning light up is really bad. did u flush and fill up with new coolant? when u service the carb, did u replace the rubbers and jets in the carb?

hi guys

im damn excited to share this with all of you

with alot alot of throttle discipline, my vtec1 has crossed the 500km mark and still a lil left in reserve, don't know how much longer it can hold.

throttle discipline!

i never twist the throttle more than just a slight bit, even during moveoff and cruising!

on the e-way hold at 5,500 - 6,000rpm, it is very surprising to discover that the rpm won't drop and I CAN MAINTAIN 90-95KM/H WITH VERY MINIMUM THROTTLE!!!

just dried up on the way back at 512.6km :thumb:

ok later go buy 5126 $5 big $5 :cheeky:

suffering meh

minimum throttle to 4,000rpm for first four gears, then 4,500rpm for the fifth.

fairly decent acceleration and cruising speed.

why waste fuel by overthrottling?

S4 vtec series is capable of 35km/l at gear 6 at speed 60-65km/h. change gear ard 3k or 4k rpm. this is according to the manual.

I think you meant maximum rpm when you mentioned "minimum throttle to 4,000rpm for first four gears, then 4,500rpm for the fifth"???

with minimum throttle the rpm can continue to rise until about almost 5,000rpm before you have twist a bit more for it cross that mark.

ppl who open vtec whenever they on the highway should post ur consumption figures here so tat u know whether ur settings when open vtec good anot.

Got one period of time i whack the bike hard. Hard acceleration from traffic lights until gear 1 power cut kick it followed by gear 2. Plenty of V tech while accelerating etc... Still can get 350 per tank include reserve. About 20km/l very normal for my riding style of accelerating to V tech every gear. But NSH cruising at 140-190 will get terrible consumptions of about 16 to 17km/l. This should be common knowledge to those touring. But u won't get this in Singapore.. Unless u dun want license lol...

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

woot... 16 - 17km/h for 140 - 190kmh.. really tough... what bike u riding ?

i think fixing a vtec switch is neccesary for those who frequently went cruising?

Touring ah... S4 consumption is not at optimum for 140 150 and above la. Its normal one.

What you mean by installing a Vtech switch is necessary for those who cruise? Persoanally i think those switches which show when your Vtech opens is unnecessary and a waste of money. Vtech open even if you can't see the rpm also can hear the exhaust. But maybe its because i'm riding a spec 1, and the Vtech power is more raw and easily felt compared to spec 2 and 3 which has much smoother and tamer Vtech transition.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

I'm trying out flykite's method of maxing out the range per tank just for the fun of it.

However, I really question riders who are so obsessed with fuel consumption why they are even riding s4 anyway. I personally cannot tahan riding a bike with accelerations like a car at 3k rpm gear changes. It really takes the fun out of riding.

If you really want to save money on S4, there are many other ways, such as not modding the bike by adding useless things, or using semi-synthetic instead of fully synthetic EO etc..

Trying to save that extra litre or two of fuel by riding at 3k to 4k rpm changes all the time compromises safety. When a quick twist of the wrist to get to free open spaces on the road leaves the tailgator behind, getting obsessed with the "discipline" not to throttle simply eliminates one of the advantages a 2A and class 2 bike has on the road.

When in need, gas it.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Thanks mate. I'll bear this in mind if i miss my petrol stops or screw up on planning.

I think the switch Jfor_Jimmy1986 mention is a switch to on/off Vtec during vtec kick in. Am i right? Heard someone in this forum from Japan got this device.. :cheeky:
